My name is Loretta, I am so glad to find this group. have a sensorineural hearing loss and tinnitus for many years. I am currently getting through an ear infection where the noise is terrible. Hoping it will be dealable soon. I have belltone true hearing aids, and the specialist said the plugs were necessary due to the amount of loss I have. I try and wear them to make it easier on those I have to communicate with, just wish they were enough, and the discomfort I feel from the plugs was worth it. Right now I have a combination of foghorns and trains, choo choo! It is so nice to find there is a group like this. The cortisone drops with the antibiotic helped sooth things right away, though the noise isn't any bet ter. They have me on 1500mg of amoxicillin a day which seems like a lot.

Hello @Loretta and welcome
This is a great forum & its helped me a lot through out my onset a acute T going on 18 days ago, ppl on here are very friendly, informative and most of all a big supportive family, look forward to reading your posts and seeing more of you

TY Jade, I never knew there was a group for this. My ENT years ago told me if he could help me he wouldn't have to work and would be rich. I hope yours goes away, after 18 days, maybe... Going to go call the ENT like the hospital suggested on Monday. Just wish I could get some sleep, and drinking some plain water. Wouldn't touch any thing with caffeine right now.

@Loretta ( if you want to respond to someone you can make them aware of your response my putting an @ and no space before typing their name and it will show up when they log on next) just a little something I have picked up :)

I have only been given the easy and quick diagnosis by a GP he said that they don't refer T ppl to ENT's as it would be wasting their time ...... Anyhow I know what you mean about not being able to sleep, I haven't taken any supplements as yet eg: magnesium, camomile etc.. but I certainly have avoided processed foods and products containing MSG as ppl in this forum say it increases T. I find when my heart rate elevates after working out, stressing out, having a hot shower or eating chocolate for me my T gets louder maybe for an hour or 2 then returns to its previous state, what things foods or actions have you found lowers or enhances your T?

Actually, right now, the only thing that helps me is I feel better after a little sleep. I got a little nap, and my right ear is good for right now. My left still sounds like a railroad car going down a track with horns. I have lived with it for so long, I am hoping after my ear heals up a bit it will get better. Been on antibiotic for two days and the ear drops for one. So far not much change at all. The ear drops do sooth. Even during "normal" periods, usually it is much better after some sleep. I find hot showers helpful.
