Hi, I'd like to introduce myself. I've lurked and now I'd like to post my story.
I'm 17 years old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
I suffer from pulsatile tinnitus, a whooshing in my right ear and sound sensitivity to regular sounds like: silverware noises, a plastic bag, dishes, pouring cereal etc.
I got this illness in December of 2018.
I stopped going outside almost completely, my room actually. I work from home. I bought an air conditioner to constantly run just so the noise can block out what I hear. I keep everything quiet on my computer except music to play over the whooshing. I can't go out anymore, car radios hurt my ear, people talking hurts too.
I hear my heartbeat in one ear, I'm constantly irritable & I become angry and sad in a split second. I find myself constantly freezing and my mind blanking out from my subconscious concentrating on the noise.
I edit video as my job (my dream!) which includes a lot of loud sounds. In the month I got the illness, I had some sharp pains in my ear from abrupt noise playing on my PC. Not long after that I noticed I couldn't handle the sound of pouring my own cereal and just everyday normal sounds.
I've seen multiple ENTs and specialists. ENTs say it's a dead end (live with it), general doctors are out of ideas. Neurologist says it could be ear wax. I spent weeks with my doctor trying different products to remove ear wax. No luck. I'm currently waiting for a call from a neurosurgeon, for an appointment. All in all, no luck with all the tests, just me banging on my head.
In terms of symptoms, I've written down everything I could come up with on my condition.
I have weeks where I barely hear any whooshing, and weeks where I cant escape it.
I have an off feeling in my head. Turning my head all the way left or right causes a *ringing* which I usually don't hear ever.
Moving my jaw around sometimes helps?
My right eye droops, my doctor noticed this. Same sided eye as my bad ear.
When I yawn, I feel a plugging feeling ONLY in my right ear.
Different parts of my head feels different at different times.
The only thing that helps, is pressing down on my neck, slowing my blood. ah..
The closest thing I've found to my symptoms so far is: superior canal dehiscence.
I'm glad to have found this forum, it gives me hope. It's nice to know I'm not alone. Hopefully I can gain motivation from the success stores. Maybe someone might have the same symptoms or someone has had success.
Thank you.
