Cause of Tinnitus
Unknown (possibly noise)
Hi I'm hoping to share my experience here.

My tinnitus is kind of double layered. The "high frequency" sounds like loudspeakers turned all the way up (just that air and ring)

And I also have this low rumble/vibrating/pulsing sound that kind of sits on top of everything else..

I went to the doctor and he said it's swimmers ear. He prescribed me drops which I still need to get from the store.

I am feeling a bit shattered with it. I'm a music producer for over 10 years now and this sudden development seems to have no correlation with any one event.

It started with my ears being very sensitive to bass noises just last month. And then it progressed to no pain but, just constant noise over everything else. I only ever hear it in my house, or when it's quiet, but it makes sleeping a huge pain..

I'm hoping somebody has had similar experience and can recommend some coping methods..

You may want to protect your ears from moderate noises (like that of a vacuum cleaner). Wear ear plugs to work.

Use sound enrichment to give you something else to listen to besides T. Amitriptyline is non-addictive. It had helped me sleep during my acute stage, without making me drowsy the next morning.

Hi @ELI7VH, and welcome.

Have you tried a sound machine or a sound pillow? If you search this forum you will find posts from people who have had success with those. Where you say that you mainly hear your tinnitus when it is quite, you may be able to find a sound machine (possibly one with a waterfall or rain sound, similar to a shower) that will help mask the tinnitus and allow you to sleep better.

Hello.. I can't believe what you've just described.. your T is identical to mine. Read my welcome post. I only came here last week because after 7 years of high pitched ringing in both ears I've started with a low rumble. I can only hear it at home and its constantly being interrupted by the tv's louder parts which gives it the impression it goes on and off. I know it doesn't as I'm lying here now in and its humming away.
I'm off to the docs Wednesday just to get checked out...
