Cause of Tinnitus
Doctor gave me no reason. He just said there was no cure for T.
My name is Luis, I'm 56 and I'm from Lisbon-Portugal. My T appeared in the late 1990's, just a slight buzzing in my left ear. Doctors told me that there was nothing they could do to help me get rid of my T simply because there was no cure for it. As you may certainly understand, this is the kind of answer able to leave you completely devastated both physically and psychologically. However, despite the apprehension and fear it initially caused me, I soon realized that the noise was not affecting my daily life maybe because I never gave any special attention to it. That's probably the reason why it has been quite bearable for me living with this torment for over 15 years. Unfortunately, things started to change out of the blue. Two months ago I came to find out that my T had increased intensity and was ringing much louder. It was no longer the tenuous buzzing that I could simply ignore and move on, actually, it became a terrible hissing that can be perceived even in the most noisy environments Along with that, I also noticed that I lost part of my hearing. I can say without the slightest doubt that things are getting pretty nasty to me. I'm about to start a long list of medical exams and hearing testsbut I must confess that I'm not that confident about the eventual results let alone about the answers that will be given to explain the reasons for my T. I'm aware to their fiddle-faddle and small talk, so I guess I won't let them wasting their precious time while trying to sell me the old explanations of ever, empty of content therefore dramatically innocuous regarding my torment.

Hi Luís, I am from Lisbon too and my story is very similar to yours. I had a mild T since 1998, and a stupid accident with a balloon 2 years ago increased the noise 3 or 4 times. Now I have reactive T, who are really annoying and I developed H. Still trying to cope after two years.I miss the times when I had only a small hiss that I could forget easily. I have some bad days and some average days and once in a while a good day, but very rare. Like anyone sometimes I feel down but until now I have always raised without any medication. The only luck I have its the fact that I can sleep well. I am a heavy dreamer and when I sleep my brain disconnects and I just got the T back some seconds after wake up.
