High Dose of Ativan Changes the Volume of My Tinnitus

It even really brings down the loudness of the unmaskable one, to the point where it becomes somewhat maskable, if that makes sense.

What's the reason for this? Any possibility taking substances like these ever actually lead to a permanent decrease in T?

Anybody else found significant releif from ativan? I wonder what mechanism would cause this. It would be a pretty far stretch to theorize that it could be some form of "healing"?

Probably has to due with calming the nervous system? but that plays right into that julian cowan hill stuff, and the other nervous system on high alert stuff that @bill 112 finds to be complete bunk.

Ativan is a Benzo. It will take down your T but leave you with bigger problems if you take it for too long. There are lots of people on here who got their T from benzos in the 1st place.

How can I prevent that from happening? Ativan is generally know to ge one of the safer benzos (its lorazepam).
Give me all info and head up please! I don't want my T to worsen!

I have used Ativan on and off for years during my anxiety/panic disorder years, and after I got T. It calms the nerves really well for me. I also phase out the drugs after a few months of continuous use during the T attack, and fortunately for me, there wasn't much issue with withdrawal. You need to work with your doctor(s) during phase out to avoid withdrawal.

When for a few days I was on 1mg every 8 hours my very severe T lowered to moderate and sometimes even mild. And I am 100% sure that it was real lowering in volume and not only change in my perception of it. Half of research should focus on why is that happening because I think it is the key to cure brain T.

Take with care my friend and only as last resort and only for a max of say Two days.
I was given Lorazepam ( Ativan ) over twenty years ago for back and neck pain..!
When my back felt better I just stopped taking it.
I had been taking 1-3mg a day for about Three months.
Then BOOM...I basically had whats now called a 'rebound' that included a massive heightening of all the things it had suppressed - heart rate went through the roof, pain went to max and along with it came some new friends - unchecked anxiety and crushing depression.
So I guess if it takes down your T you run a risk (if your unlucky) of getting an increase in T when you stop.
Having said that I have learnt that some people stop after years and don't even sneeze !!
Seems the type of 'ride' you get varies from person to person.
My Lorazepam experience in 1997, made me a complete drug phobic and I have to admit to being a bit of an anti benzo preacher ! It scared the life out of me.
These drugs are effective but very dirty in my humble opinion.
Took me about two years to recover fully from Three months of tablets.

I had larozapam lmg tabs to take 1 to 3 aday or half a tablet when felt I needed it.
Most days I took half for 4 weeks with the odd extra dose if needed it..
I had no problem stopping it reducing every 3 days to 1/4 then missing a day in between then stopped.
I had them on repeate but never needed them again and asked them take it off..
They helped get through a rough patch with my health..lots of love glynis

Low dose Ativan from time to time lowers tinnitus, depression, anxiety and makes sleep easier..>Meditation and massage and exercise have similar affects
