Hissing Noise

very high pitched hiss type sound 24/7 although seems to be less loud in the morning. I have high frequency hearing loss. But can hear everyday sounds ok.

I have a high-pitched hissing noise, along with pulsatile tinnitus.

Me too , last few days I have an extreme hissing like a massive gas leak . It is vile but i think it is a little easier to put up with than the the horrible feedback tones i get . Those utterly kill me.
Stay strong if you can ...

What do you mean by feedback tones?

@valeri Hi Valeri , 'feedback tones' i hear these horrible squeeling tones exactly like a feedback tone you might hear from a massive microphone or speaker at a rock concert . It really hurts and i think that tone is the most distressing to me. It tortures me . Occassionally things soften to a hiss or softer tone .
I very distressed again just now as the T is extremely loud and I have lost the ability to ignore it . Itvis too loud to ever go into the background and is getting into what was my good ear.

This is some serious crap! How to survive I don't know:(

@valeri it is very distressing but I am hoping it will either ease or I get used to it again. I am just upset because I had control last week and was happy again. Stress definately makes mine worse as does grinding my teeth which i do a lot of . My dentist gave me a gum shield but it just makes me bite down harder in my sleep !
I am so scared about just how loud this can get before i go insane.
One morning about four weeks ago i woke with extreme ear noise and was so distressed i lost my mind. Before i knew it i was in the garden at 6 AM screaming and smashing the garden up . When i 'came to' i had destroyed the place !

To make things worse mine is very reactive and it's causing me some burning ear pain.
As if noise on it's own is not bad enough more disturbing symptoms are thrown into mix.
No wonder some people loose the plot:(

Can you mask it?

@valeri nope mine is so loud nothing will mask it .My T has been reactive too. As soon as i turn the tv up the T volume rises above it ! It is just as if the remote control is operating the T. Very upsetting. I HATE IT.Tinnitus has destroyed my life . I am no longer me .
Last night we had a storm and I was desperate to just lay on the bed in the twilight and listen to the wind and rain pressing at the window as i used to love to do but I could not hear it because of the screaming T . I cannot hear ambient noise .
I also hate the facial numbness and ear fullness , the whole experience .

I'm having a nice squealing day. One of those "I can't do math" days. Hopefully I'm back at a hiss by lunchtime.

Have you got hearing loss? Mahbe a hearing aid would help.

@Sam Bridge Hi Sam I had a hearing test recently at ENT and they say my left ear ( has the raging T ) has signigican loss of high frequencies. They did not mention hearing aids but are sending me fir 'tinnitus retraining' whatever that is.
My T gets worse if I stressed .... And i stress a lot . I just want to get better

my tinnitus has become more of a hiss over the last few years.

Originally it was a screaming dooooooough tone like a broken speaker...so relaxing on a quiet morning( lol.

I love my hiss...thank you lord!

The fear that you have cognitive damage or that you're going insane is what causes the extreme fear and anxiety that ruins most of us.

Welcome the bastard in! Its just like an itchy toe or back pain it's you. It's not an intrusive external entity.

Embrace your T like an old friend who won't leave...

"love" is a strong word dude.

Oh I do man...no hyperbole.

I had T so bad it was how I imagine somehow who had the unfortunate luck of sitting within an earshot of a road side bomb in Iraq or some other hellhole.....death almost seems like a relief in that situation...after 10 days of complete insomnia....haha
