- Noise (likely headphones & cars), Acoustic trauma did me in
I think that is very interesting, because it seems to be 2 types of "reactive tinnitus".Running water, driving noises, fans, cause feedback in my ears and instantly ends when the noise stops.
The first being feedback which ceases immediately after the noise is over, and then "spikes" which lingers for a while after.
I experience "spikes" which I still call reactive tinnitus because almost any sound triggers the elevated volume, i.e. it reacts really badly. If i stay in complete silence for an hour or so after the noise exposure, the volume drops down a bit. Early on in my onset I had the first type, the "feedback" kind, as well as distortions, both of which has gone away now.
This is just my speculation, but I believe the former type is related to distortions, and the latter, hyperacusis. Hence they may not be treated in the same way, if treated at all. Just my thoughts.
All the best,
