Hissing Reactive Tinnitus

Running water, driving noises, fans, cause feedback in my ears and instantly ends when the noise stops.

I think that is very interesting, because it seems to be 2 types of "reactive tinnitus".

The first being feedback which ceases immediately after the noise is over, and then "spikes" which lingers for a while after.

I experience "spikes" which I still call reactive tinnitus because almost any sound triggers the elevated volume, i.e. it reacts really badly. If i stay in complete silence for an hour or so after the noise exposure, the volume drops down a bit. Early on in my onset I had the first type, the "feedback" kind, as well as distortions, both of which has gone away now.

This is just my speculation, but I believe the former type is related to distortions, and the latter, hyperacusis. Hence they may not be treated in the same way, if treated at all. Just my thoughts.
