How Do Celebrities Cope with Tinnitus?

Yeah Googl it....Many have Tinnitus....They have no choice but to deal like us........No amount of money is going to fix...some got it from night clubs, gun shots, explosions on set and obviously musicians .ect.

Makes me feel better knowing they're not immune or cannot buy a fix!

Ryan Adams has meniere's disease. He has to deal with hearing loss, tinnitus, and vertigo. Anyways, don't fret. A cure or at least a proper treatment will be here someday. My bet it's within 10 years.

Is anyone able to work? I struggle with concentration and understanding coworkers directions. Ive tried going back to several different jobs but I just cant seem to concentrate. I feel stupid and I know im not. How are you guys getting by in normal every day life?

Some of us have mild T that is ignorable, like mine. Since mine isn't acoustic trauma induced, I am okay with loud noises as well. But it doesn't mean I can blast music.

Hi, I had problems concentration at work for almost 1 year.

I'm a software engineer, so I have to be fully concentrated and solving problems most of the times. I though I was not going to be able to work again. But I was wrong.

I have fully habituated to my sound ( I can hear it over most of the environment sounds, and is reactive to some sounds, so i can't mask it easyly because it may spike)... Because of my reactive tinnitus, it may sound weird, but i prefer silence! just with a bit of ambient sound, I enjoy it, relax me, and I can work again as before.

So the answer is yes, you can work again, as soon as you start to accept, habituate, and change your reactions and feelings about T.

Regards!

At least celebrities don't have the financial stress. As many say, stress is not good for T. Plus having alot of money ,they can try every remedy out there to aleviate their discomfort.

I am sure my T wouldn't be as bad if I had a few million in the bank.

Hello to eveyone!
Excellent thread by the way!

I think celebrities (especially the musicians could easily promote information /education or mentality (at global level) about the effects and consequences that an acoustic trauma can cause at any "normal" or healthy person....there are dozens of different situations you may could be affected by ear desorders (live concerts is on the top i guess)

How many of us knew about Tinnitus or Hyperacusis before happen to ourselfs?
The celebrities on stage (and also promoters/ regulators and all staff) do not know extreme loud music can damage and cause hearing loss of their fans?

Do not intent to blame any artist for my earing desorders but im also asked many times why live concerts do not have safety limits? (if they have in some countries...well, will be something new for me)

No cure for T at the moment? Not yet....
Can we do something to achieve faster healing (nowadays)? Yes....
Who better than the celebrities to alert the world to the problem?

Younger cases with T and H (and other ear disorders) they are becoming more common....at this rate something will have to be done in society (thats for sure!)

I dont know how to contact celebrities but i wonder if they know about our TT forum and maybe some of them could joint our fight to find a clinical solution!

Cheers to all!

"Without a doubt I have tinnitus. You're not a proper rock'n'roll star if you don't," Liam told The Sun after Beady Eye's instore gig at London's Rough Trade East on Monday (June 10). "I learned to live with it a long time ago. I put up with it – I just talk really loudly over it. I'm proud of it. Anyone who doesn't have ringing in their ears can fuck right off."

lol

x3. Hilarious but he is basically accepting T with whatever justification and it works for him.
