How Long Does It Take to Get Over an Ear Infection That Caused Tinnitus?

Ear drum hasn't healed, that takes a while. Hearing has improved and so has tinnitus. It was unbearable at the beginning, so loud I couldnt mask it and now its a lot quieter. After reading the forums here and getting tips on diet, supplements and seeing a psychiatrist and taking anti anxiety meds everything has improved.

mine came from an ear infection and it never went away. It got lower though. I am 99% sure they came from the drops they gave me. I had to get into see an ENT who said they gave me drops that were making my ear infection worse. I like many people went to urgent care first because ENT's don't usually have next day appointments. They gave me drops that I know made the infection worse and I am pretty sure gave me the permanent T. Make sure you get into to see an ENT.

So glad to hear it's getting better for you! What a relief. I'm on about 9 days with ringing following traumatic eardrum perforation. Did you notice at any time that your tinnitus got louder before it got better? I can't tell if mine got louder or if I'm just paying it too much attention.

The first month my T was out of control but as I started to get my hearing back and started taking meds for the anxiety the T slowly died down. My ear is still not fully healed and I still have a lot of inflammation. Now most of the time my T is mild but I avoid everything that might spike my T.
