How Loud Is a Fire Extinguisher?

Pretty loud: according to this study done by Siemens, 130dB. That's dangerous even as impulse noise.

But a lot depends on just what type of extinguisher we're talking about, how far were you from it, did you have wear any protection, etc etc.

Were you exposed or just wondering?

I have done fire training at work before. We had to use the extinguisher. It was relatively noisy (I put earplugs in), but in no way was it 130db. I would have thought it was over 100; maybe 103-105 at an absolute maximum

130dB seems a bit excessive to me, too. But this is pretty much the only hard data I could find.

No not exposed. Want to buy one.
