I am deaf in my right ear since birth. I have had a humming tinnitus for a couple of years. I recently had my ears suctioned - the ENT guy was determined to clear out my deaf ear of black compacted wax. The good ear was also suctioned.

The next day I still had the humming but the day after it has gone completely.

Was it the compacted black wax in the deaf ear causing it?

I'm booked in for an MRI scan but seems pointless if it's gone. It has been gone for a whole week now.

Weirdly, since I'm deaf in one ear I can't tell if the hum is in my head or my good ear. I guess it could be my deaf ear and I'm hearing the hum in my good ear???

Your post reminded me of another from @CricketEars yesterday. He cleaned his ears and found that his eardrums were black. He was concerned. Hope he sees this.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, it's much appreciated! To me it looks like me eardrums are black on the inside, which doesn't make sense. If it doesn't look normal in a couple of days, i'll go seem an ENT (haven't had luck with them before though). Thanks again for the tag

I know with me sometimes it seems like my T is only in one ear, other days it's the other, some days it's both, some days I can't tell where it's coming from. I hope you find answers soon!
