Cause of Tinnitus
Random no idea
Hello, my name is Brittany. I'm reaching out in hope of some answers or story of similar experiences. I really just need a piece of mind, my biggest fear is like brain cancer or something.

So it all started back in college, I remember taking a long shower the night before and going to bed after, I woke up the next morning with a loud pitched ringing in my ears, both of them and when I tried standing up I was really dizzy and off balance. It lasted for about 5 minutes then it turned into a quiet whooshing in only my left ear.

Over time the dizziness and balance issues continued and the whooshing got louder. I went and had an MRI and they said everything was good but that was back in 2016. I didn't have insurance so I never made it to the ENT.

I also have bipolar, doctors said it could be stress and told me to take my meds but they didn't work at all. But it does get louder the more and more my heart races. It also gets louder when I have a headache, my head feels so full, and so does my sinuses, it makes it really hard for me to concentrate and have normal conversations.

Sometimes I get random sharp pains in my head also causing the tinnitus to get louder.

If I press on my neck or lean my head to the left the sound gets quiet or completely goes away and it gets louder any other direction.

I feel like a lot of my other issues could be symptoms of what's wrong, like dizzy spells to the point I feel faint, throwing up/not often but sometimes after the dizzy spells. Feel really shaky and cold randomly. My heart racing bad.

Sometimes I feel I'm going to just die. But I'm having a hard time getting to my doctor and even once I go I feel they won't believe me or send me to a million places that won't do me any good.

Please inform me of your experiences or ideas of what could be wrong, good, bad and the ugly.

And maybe what's the best way to get results without trying to convince everyone I'm not crazy?

Thank you ^.^

If I were you I'd go down the medical diagnosis path. I understand there may be insurance issues in the way, but you need professional help.

Good luck!

I know and I'm working on it. Just I hear so many bad things about people just being sent to a million places and they still don't know what's wrong with them. It just scares me, but I definitely will. Thank you!

Hey, I know how you feel. I've been dealing with this issue since December of 2018 . I have two CTA's of my head and neck, I just had an MRI with and without contrast and they all came back normal . Everyday I worry because I don't know what is causing my pulsatile tinnitus.

All I will say is try to take it easy. I too am bipolar and I know tinnitus poses an extra serious risk to us. I treat my depression first, tinnitus second.
