I Can Only Hear Tinnitus When I Block My Ears?

Even if it's pitch quiet, I can't hear it.
I literally can only hear it if I'm blocking my ears, and it's really loud when I'm blocking my ears, is this weird?

I do have spikes maybe once a week where it gets loud enough to hear while doing normal things, I usually panic when that happens.

Be thankful. Don't focus on it as you may make it worse. That is the advice I would have given myself 7 years ago when it was nowhere near as loud as it is now.

You are lucky person. As already mentioned, you basically don't have tinnitus.
