so what do you think has helped? the hearing aid or something else? I thought you mentioned meniere's? are you taking any meds?

So it's 20 months now that I developed sshl and severe tinnitus. I just want to say that I am better now. In the last few months my hearing loss has been stable and has improved, my tinnitus is always audible but I have habituated. My aural fullness and hypercusis fated away slowly. I am back to where I was 2 years ago. Ménière's disease fluctuate so I am not ready to write a success story but if I continue to feel better I will!

Good on you, i remember your distress in the beginning. Please keep us updated on your progress!

I just wanted to reach out and say that I have been going through exactly what you've described for 18 months now. Started with sudden hearing loss and in the last month it is fluctuating with awful tinnitus. I pray that I will get better soon as this has been debilitating to say the very least. I am just starting to use a hearing aid to help me hear. I look forwardd to any further updates from you on your journey.

The tinnitus did not get better I just accepted it and I have habituated. My hearing has improved slightly! Did you have vertigo?

I had an initial 5 second spin when my hearing first dropped but no vertigo since then. Some days I feel wobbly but that's about it.

THATS A GOOD SIGN, DOES YOUR HEARING FLUCTUATE?
Yes it does - just in low frequency - along with the tinnitus (which I didn't have until a month ago when my hearing took a dive again!). I responded to first round of steroids and then when I finished them, a week later the same thing happened. On a second course and my hearing is up and down. I'm actually booked in tomorrow for an intratympanic steroid injection to see if we can settle and recover any recent hearing changes. I'm crossing my fingers!

After 7 months of relatively acceptable level of tinnitus I had a 3 rd vertigo attack, about 3 weeks ago my hearing started to decrease to almost no hearing. Tinnitus became a roar and at 5 am sudden spinning that dropped me to the floor accompanied by 5 hrs of continuous vomiting and inability to move. Profusely sweating accompanied by cold chills. Now I am off balance and my tinnitus is back to normal loud volume.
Ménière's disease is a beast.

Thanks about the update, Dominic.
Sorry about your condition. Ménière's does suck. I hope we will find something to curb it soon.

@Dominic1955 ,
I'm sorry that you are suffering with vertigo again. I don't have Meniere's and I never even heard of the disease until I started having my own ear problems but I agree that it is a beast. I feel bad for the members here who have to deal with Meniere's. I hope you start to feel more balanced soon.

MY BIRTHDAY IS SUNDAY, AND ITS GOING TO BE 2 YEARS SINCE MY TINNITUS STARTED.
I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT I AM NOT BETTER AND I AM ONE OF THE UNFORTUNATE PEOPLE WHO HAVE MENIERES DISEASE THAT CAUSED THE HEARING LOSS AND TINNNITUS, NOW I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING VERTIGO, UNSTEADINESS !
CONSIDER YUORSELF LUCKY IF YOU ONLY HAVE TINNITUS, HOPEFULLY Y EVEN IF THE TINNITUS DOES NOT GO AWAY YOU CAN HABITUATE, YOU CANT HABITUATE VERTIGO.

Hey doc... Not sure if you follow Otonomy, but it looks like their OTIVIDEX drug will hit the market eventually. So, something to think about (or at least follow up on in 2018). We should learn more end of this quarter...
