I Feel Bad — Just Debunked a Friend's Conspiracy Theories

I came to Peterson through atheism in his debates with atheists - I have not really listened to anything else - and this is how am evaluating him.
On the topic of religion, you're correct, Peterson's way out of his depth when debating prominent atheists. He's hit or miss honestly and I sometimes find it hard to take him seriously.

That said, his first book, 12 Rules of Life is still relevant for so many young people. It's a good read for anyone who feels like life is out of control. The "cleaning up your room" motto is alright, but maybe a little too preachy for people with aversion to Christian religion.

Where was he when I needed him in my early 20s. I probably would have listened to him too as in those days I was a right wing asshole like him.

@Stuart-T, just wanted to let you know that I severed the connection to my "mentor" today. I told him straight up that I think he's a nutjob and that I lost all respect for him. He decided to use me as an example of a "poor, misguided male who obviously needs my teachings badly". He crucified me in public, but I don't even care anymore. He has fully embraced all the tenets of the most insane parts of the Republican party in the United States and I will not let someone like that preach to me anymore. But I have to say it was very hard to take the full step. I felt very stressed out later.

No word from my friend. I last heard from him on September 7. It looks like this is a permanent break.

I learned about a disturbing case of a dad who believed in the reptilian conspiracy. He got to believing his wife had reptile genes. They had 2 small children and he was afraid they would grow into evil beings. He drove them down to Mexico and killed them both with a fishing spear gun. He was jailed for life. Years later and he now admits he was deluded and is sorry for the choices he made.

I think my friend also believes in this reptilian stuff but he has no children thankfully.

Science is real. Get vaccinated, beliefs are just that, beliefs, not facts. It would be unconscionable if someone was a carrier and killed others out of whatever beliefs they might have. And beliefs/concerns, whatever are nothing against such a powerful virus that is so easily spread and has killed countless humans.
