They are chopping down all the huge trees in the reserve behind me and it's making me so sad, some of those trees are over a hundred years old. They are home to many birds and other animals.

I'm also really weird and think trees have a soul or something... I really love trees. I even wrote a poem about them many years ago when I was seeing a therapist for depression. I often wonder if anyone else feels the same way about trees.

The poem

I said it hurts

Ah yes..the pain

But why I asked

He smiled again

Ah yes you hurt

And who knows why

And who knows what

And we can try

And I'll be here for ever more

And listen well

Now close the door

So I said it hurts

To my guava tree

I might as well

At least it's free

And the boughs were full

And the pink-flesh round

With light-edged leaves

And rustling sound

With mottled trunk

And a fruit-drunk bird

I talked to my tree

For I would be heard

I said it hurts

And I might as well

Talk to my tree

And that's a fact

He laughed at this

So that's a fact

You're in trouble when it answers back

I said it does.

Hi Holly. I live in the city, but I can walk to a nice neighborhood with lots of old trees. I used to take walks there because I liked being surrounded by those trees. They have a calming presence.

I'm sorry they're killing those trees that you love. They not only hurt the environment, they also hurt the people who appreciate the company of trees.

@Holly1987 strange you mentioned this. I am sort of in tears driving down the streets seeing dead christmas trees in front of everyone's houses. It bothers me a lot to know so many trees are murdered each year.

And a while back a neighbor up the street took down a beautiful tree in his front yard. Must have been at least 50 years old very willow like. The birds loved that tree and so did the little squirels. He just got tired of it.

So tree murders bother me a lot around here.

Someone cut a branch of the tree outside the neighbours property and i felt sad because birds use to sit on it. I also get really weird about people cutting tree's down. If there a danger fine, if not then i just leave them along.

i love old beech trees, holly trees
and prefer pine over cedar.
Tinnitus forced me to cut down my cedars due to allergies.

Trees and all living things for that matter have some kind of awareness of being alive. They are not just dumb trees without souls they are living breathing machines with some form of consciousness. Sounds like hippy crap but its true, even plants are male and female and while alive, feel alive like we do. They get stressed like we do and are effected like we are by our surroundings.

If you ever do Psilocybin you suddenly realise all this dumb stuff you never pay any attention to like trees and plants and grass is all alive, and you see everything for what it really is. Afterwards you feel brand new again because you feel more connected to earth. Which is also why it can be good for depression i think.

JR Tolkien must have done mushrooms at some point come to think of it. Roald Dahl used to indulge and go writing in his shed in the garden i believe too. It definitely explains their whacky minds to me.

You're right.. I cut down all my male trees bcz they are the ones that spray pollen. In created suburbs the street planners only plant male trees. Bcz female trees drop berries and are considered dirty. So allergies are increased bcz there are no female trees to catch the pollen.
