I Haven't Been Diagnosed Yet...

Hi! well this is all new to me ...I can't actualy beleive that I never figured out I could have suffer from Tinnitus before last week, dahhh! I always tought Tinnutus was << rigning in your ears << .
Everybody have been telling me I am deaf ( I am 59 ) and have been in denial ( even if I been needed caption to listen to TV for over 5 yrs and making every one repeat all the time).

I tought every ones were earing sounds of ocean , waves , falls , squishing ...name it ! in their ears .
I have no idea when all this have started ...but I am sure that there as not been NO silent in my head for at least 6-8 years ...I continualy hears the ocean and ai think it is getting louder now.
So it is only about a week ago that a light bulb click and I tought << is this could be Tinnitus ??'' and I googles it and sure enough!

So now I am here ( because I was searching about Topamax witch I have been taken for mood stabilizer for about 10 yrs ).

Welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
I think it would be good for your doctor check your ears for wax build up or infection and then a up to date hearing test .
Then see audiology if require hearing aids or white noise generators.
Well done for coping so well this long.

Thank-you , its great to get some answers here and I see some have it much worse than myself. Yes I will have this all check soon...not easy to get a doctor appt. I did have a skull fractur and pierced ear drum back in 1986 from a car accident but was told back then every thig was o.k.
like I said I dont remember last time I heard complete silent in my head but tought everybody were like that.
was often told that I dont listen! Now I feel it is so loud, it is driving me crazy.thanks!

Have you tried to mask your loud T? Masking will help reduce the anxiety and stress which are bad for T. You may want to try this method by IWLM who has managed to tame his T after 40 years and his success story is the most read one on this forum. Take good care. God bless.

Thank-you Billy for taking the time for me. I actualy read some success story yesturday including the one you suggested ..interseteing indeed! I tried it last night , will need some practice though. I have an appt. Wit a pratiction in a bout 2 werks ( my faamily doc is in maat leave until appril ) hope she will be able to refer me to an ENT asp ( ? My apt was for reviewing other previews medical tests).
Now I keep wondering if the noise heve become relly louder orr if it is that I am moree focusing on it constantly but it seems its getting to even start to irrated my ears, I want to rub them off.
