I Invented a Sound That Knocked Out My Tinnitus

Unfortunately no, thank you though.

Resolved tinnitus... back injury... MRI... screaming tinnitus... the back injury predates the new tinnitus by one month. Hey but my back is better... I'd gladly go back to a slipped disk if I could trade it for this tinnitus.
For me, no amount of physical pain comes close to the awfulness of tinnitus. Except when the tinnitus or hyperacusis is also causing pain and then the other physical pain is layered on top. Then it's a double and triple whammy.

I've been thinking the same thing, but I haven't made it through a whole night with it a decent volume, so I don't yet know if it works for me as is.
Yes, it's not easy. I'm having a rough time of things at the moment too so it's stressful to do. What's worked for me is to play it at a very low volume (I've had to get an app that decreases the gain below what my phone can usually play) and being so exhausted so that I'm forced to sleep through it. Also adjusting my pillows and using a leg raiser when sleeping so that I'm forced to sleep on my back.

It's been three days and this seems to have completely knocked out one out of the three "channels" which my tinnitus exists on. This was a constant 15 kHz sound. It began to "shimmer" after 2 days and has now been eliminated or reduced below the level of my other loud symptom. This is the sensation that you get when you just get out of a pool, it's not a specific frequency and isn't possible to mask or replicate. My third symptom is a high 15.5 kHz sine which isn't constant but more irregular, like raindrops, and that has slightly dulled. I will continue to apply the mix and report on progress.
That's GREAT!! Keep going and don't skip a night or tinnitus will try to reform. This is a very good sign!

Sorry to hear. It interests me, because I've worked with digital audio a lot and wonder if alternative mixes can be developed/tailored for those that Tinnitus Mix doesn't work for. The instruments (if you can call them that) seem to interrogate the tinnitus symptoms and bury them by provoking confusion in the brain, or at least that's my impression. In my case the 15 kHz noise was noticeable in a city street or on the bus.
Yes different mixes of Tinnitus Mix could very well be the answer, I have remixed it many times using feedback letters from users. The biggest improvement was when I put one part of sound file on left channel and another section of file in right channel (stereo) for the first 16 minutes of the file. This seemed to work about 30% better faster than just the mono sections. This confuses the tinnitus loop in the multiple pathologies that are formed in the tinnitus, breaking the loop.

I think if you took 4 or 6 sections and mixed them it could advance the effectiveness even more!!

Does Tinnitus Mix have more higher frequencies on the right side versus the left?

Does each ear receive the same tones, but in a different order or are right and left very different?

Tinnitus Mix helps some people that's why for something free it's worth a try....I bought the KSC75, and two Koss PRO's... I did a detailed unboxing of each about 100 posts ago.

The headphones and two MP3 players... $100 was worth the effort... but it's time for me to let things go unaided and see how that goes.

Good luck to everyone else!

The left channel is just a different section of the file than the right channel, the frequencies go all over the place but the very short pulses also are a major factor in what makes this work.

The right side seems to have more, louder high frequencies... but that is my hyperacusis ear... is it louder or is it just me?
Well it changes every second, louder, softer, higher frequencies to lower frequencies. The change ups is what confuses the tinnitus. When I first made Tinnitus Mix I recorded it onto chrome oxide tape (high quality), what this did is put properties of the tape player in Tinnitus Mix such as wow and flutter, cross talk, etc.

I attribute this to being like physical therapy for the inner ear. Perhaps combining it with other medications like anti-oxidants, nootropics, etc. would enhance its effects.

Interesting thought.

I wonder if anyone has ever combined audio therapy with medications. HMM!!

Tinnitus is such a weird condition. And how do you sleep at night (back/belly/sideways)? Because you say your tinnitus is louder in the morning, I only get that when I'm sleeping sideways. On my back and in a neutral position does wonders for me.

I'm also guessing this won't work for me, but i'll be 100% sure within a month.
Sleeping on your back and your tinnitus is fine the next morning? How did you get tinnitus in the first place?

Most people that it works on report reduced tinnitus within first 2 weeks, It may not help your condition but thanks for trying. We are up to 603 people reporting good results with Tinnitus Mix:

@R. David Case I would never be able to sleep with the headphones on. What type or model of Boombox/CD player would you recommend?

If you cut a hole in a foam pillow the earpiece will fit in the hole and you won't even know they are on you.

But if you use a boom box Sony sell high quality speakers. Most CD players are standardized so any CD will work.

We have a report from one musician who knocked out his 25 year tinnitus with Tinnitus Mix, and for that person these also worked:

I'm guessing a Bose would also work?? I have reactive tinnitus that goes up with sound and tinnitus that started with neck/jaw issues. Will your CD be a problem with this?

With reactive tinnitus it is more likely you will not respond to sound therapy in general, that does not mean it won't work for you, but I would use bone conduction headphones with Tinnitus Mix since they do not go over the ears.

Yeah. It helped with some noise sensitivity I had in my right ear. I didn't use the right headphones and towards the end I could only get through about 4 hours per night. I stopped. There's something to this for sure. I say it's worth a try.
This is why I take so much time out of my life and take the abuse from many here on Tinnitus Talk, to help people that are suffering. Here is a concert pianist that had to stop playing because of hyperacusis and tinnitus, after a long struggle with Tinnitus Mix he is going to play again!!!

I listened to part of your tape and it was very uncomfortable with high pitch screeching and electronic mechanical noises. It did not lower my tinnitus
I just started listening to this... it's horrible.. how can you go to sleep to this!? And if you do go to sleep... imagine the nightmares it might generate... Holy macamoly.

If this has actually helped people with tinnitus... well... I'm happy for them. I'm gonna pass though.
