Hey guys and girls,

So I've always had sensitive ears and I've been prone to ear infections my whole life, this has led me to take extra care of my ears, to make sure i don't expose myself to loud/harmful sounds. I had to get a surgery done at the start of july, nothing related to my ears, so I've been in my house for the past few months where the loudest sound I've been subject to is my bedside alarm. I awoke one morning to find a spider on my arm, so I quickly shot up out of bed and smacked it, and ever since that I've had this constant, dreadful ringing in my ears, which is noticeably worse in my right ear.

I've visited several doctors who have all been completely and utterly unhelpful! "You're young I guarantee you it's just earwax! Use olive oil to clean them!" "They're just a bit dull take these antibiotics and you'll be fine in no time". Why do I feel like i'm not being taken seriously for something that is seriously effecting me? I've managed to get an appointment in two weeks with an ear specialist in a clinic so I'm hoping he'll take me seriously and he can shed some light on the situation.

Can anyone give me any tips on how to live with this constant ringing? I've tried Amitriptyline but that just made the ringing worse. Thinking of trying Xanax tomorrow, I just need something to settle it down for a little bit while I wait to see the specialist. Thanks for reading my rant.

You need to get a sound machine that would mask T when you try to sleep.

Hi Bill, I have very high frequency T and when I try use white noise/other noises to mask the T it just seems like it gets louder, hopefully I can find the right sound to mask mine properly soon enough. Thanks for the reply!

The sound of crickets normally works well for high pitch tone T....

I have used lithium orotate some lately and it seems to be calming. I don't know if that would lower the tinnitus or not. I would suggest you ask for an extended audiogram when you go. Have them test at least up to 14khz.

Hi @Daradu,

Thanks for sharing--that's one of the most amazing stories I've heard regarding the cause of sudden tinnitus onset. I would think you would be a prime candidate for the approach espoused by Julain Cowan Hill (lots of youtube videos), which involves calming the brain and nervous system. -- Best!

Thanks for the channel suggestion @Lane I've bookmarked it and I'm going to go through some videos when I have the time. I know it's such a strange onset for tinnitus! I was just lying there relaxing then bam outta nowhere haha. I'm hoping it will get better!

Thanks for the suggestion @JasonP next time I am in town I'm going to look out for some.
