Cause of Tinnitus
unknown
I recently quit drinking.

I was severely addicted to it.

I started with beer and drank for years, 25 to be exact.

Since I have stopped I have noticed my ears have been ringing like a very high pitched noise it isn't constant but sometimes it's pretty loud. Especially in the mornings.

I know my blood pressure is a little high still but is repairing itself as the days go by.

Do you think there is a possibility my tinnitus will go away?

Your excessive drinking caused a problem with your GABA receptors and when you stopped drinking your brain had a "zap" and gave you tinnitus. Expect up to 12 months for recovery but your tinnitus will go away.

Despite claims to the contrary, no one can predict what your tinnitus will do. Nor is there any sound biochemistry understanding of the causes of tinnitus. The good news is that you can learn to respond to tinnitus in a manner that moves it to the background, and eventually habituate and not notice it.

What are your views that a future treatment or cure will come? Or not in our lifetime?

Are you sure? I drinked also a lot the last past 10 years excessive (0.8 - 1L whiskey each weekend). T is higher the day after drinking a lot.

Do you have a source?

Everyone's experience is different with regard to alcohol. When I am drunk my T almost goes to zero and next day it's back to normal. So I am not sure we can draw a general conclusion from anecdotal stories.
