I Took Some Zopiclone and the Tinnitus Stopped

Benzos, and probably Z-drugs as well, are basically a temporary cure for tinnitus. This is well known among tinnitus researchers. However, it's mostly considered a non-viable treatment because of the massive potential for side effects and addiction.
For some. For others they don't make one iota of difference.

I took some tonight. If you don't hear back from me, it probably didn't work. I'll try to remember to post a reply when I wake up, but I might forget.

EDIT:

No need to wait—it definitely made a difference. The shrill pulsing is less intense, and it feels more like it's deeper in my head rather than on my eardrum. I really hope this effect lasts. The noise isn't completely gone, but wow, it's so much less annoying!

It will be good to know if you experience any side effects.

No noticeable side effects currently. I woke up, and it's at about a 3 or 4 compared to a 6. I can still hear it all the time, but it's not as present.

The ringing is a high-pitched chirping, like a burnt-out smoke detector, although quieter. It's so rapid-fire that it distorts constant sounds, like the noise from my standing fan. It's kind of like the distortion you'd hear if you yelled into a fan—that's what I'm experiencing today.

If anything, this is the first time I've had this specific experience. It's more tolerable than an omnipresent ringing, although I can already feel that coming back 2–3 hours after waking up. I've been trying to keep myself distracted by playing games and staying busy, which has worked in the past on good days to keep the noise at bay. Unfortunately, it's not working as well today for some reason.

Just another one of life's mysteries. I'm glad Zopiclone didn't do anything terrible to me because getting a good sleep seems to have helped.

For anyone curious, I'd attribute the post-wake-up tinnitus more to getting a good sleep rather than the zopiclone having any long-term effect. I've experienced this pattern before after a good rest, though it has only happened three times since the onset. I've been sleeping horribly for the past month.
