I was given 10mg of Nortriptyline. I'm afraid that my T will get worse if I take it and it's already ridiculously bad.

Anyone take this and have it get worse but then go back to baseline after stopping it? I don't want to end up making things permanently worse by taking it one night.

It doesn't make any sense that taking it one night could cause any permanent damage but this is T which makes no sense.

Is it something you would take just one night? I thought it was used for long term therapy?

No. I would take it more than 1 night, but would stop immediately if it made my tinnitus worse. People have said that it made their T worse. I'm afraid to even try it if taking it once could do some permanent damage.

Nortriptyline can help but dry mouth may bother you. Kevin Hogan used mainly Nortriptyline and Xanax. I thought Nortriptyline capsules came in 25 mg increments? I was on 25-75 mg/day in the past.

Xanax and anything will lower t.

It was given to me for headaches. I'm just concerned about it making my T worse.

Understood.
Unfortunately I don't think you'll find the answer you are looking for through anecdotal evidence reports in the forum: I've seen reports of increased T, and reports of decreased T.
Your best bet would be to find a study that helps you get some statistical info, because at the end of the day I'm afraid you're going to have to go with your gut.
Check this one out, it seems to be pretty positive about it.

I take 10mg of amitriptyline a night ( basically the same) and it helps me sleep and stay asleep. It's helped me massively. It made my T jump for a like 4-5 days then went back down and has kept it somewhat normal. It won't increase your T for good so don't freak. It takes about 2 weeks for something like this to get into your system and work so dont just stop after 1 night. You have to stick it out like the doctor says. Going cold turkey on anti-D's are dangerous believe me, i did it a few months ago and felt very, very suicidal and was in a dark place.

Thanks. I saw that one. The thing is I'm not depressed. Psych meds are great for people who need them, not so good for people who don't. Messing with your brain chemistry is risky even without t. With it, the stakes are higher. Idk I think I'm too chicken.

You're following the same reasoning I followed when I decided to not take Lexapro (I'm not depressed either), so I understand you completely.
