Hey Gang,

Glad to see this helpful resource exists. While uncertain as to the exact cause of my right ear ringing, I have three questions:

1) How important is it to identify the type of tinnitus - with a doctor's help? I have read that nearly ten types exist.

2) Is it best to sleep on my left side ("good" ear) or right side ("bad")? I am starting to use a noise generating atop my nightstand.

3) I plan to travel to the West and visit spots that are about 8000 feet in altitude. Has anyone's tinnitus been affected at higher elevations? (I am now at sea level.)

Thanks!

Here are my answers.

1. No. If, once you identify it, it will likely change.

2. No. Sleeping position doesn't affect tinnitus. But if it does for you, just wait, as in time it will change.

3. I don't know. Report back if it changes your tinnitus one way or another.
