Ototoxic??Not sure yet
I got tinnitus suddenly late December 2016. Wasn't acoustic trauma - I was in the mountains...
To get to the point - it was very loud ringing in left ear only and the ENT found no hearing loss so we agreed it was medication (Losarton) and left it at that with the usual words of wisdom: nothing can be done - go suffer!!

The next bozo said it cannot be Losarton - it's hearing loss but go suffer! Not me - I said to myself - My primary suggested 1/2 table of 250 mg Niacin 3 times a day, after researching a bit came across Tebonin and a few posts on this board led me to the Vitamins (Ca Mg Zn. Omega), nuts, spinach and other brain food - About a week later it started getting better and now it's more a hiss that changes volume. I do have 'reactive tinnitus'' so that sucks and am working on that!

That's all I wanted to say for now! When this began all I wanted to know was what worked to lower the volume.

BTW - take posts on this board with a pinch of salt - Remember every one has a different tinnitus so yours might go low or go away completely! Some of these will scare you!!

I got a ringing in my ear about a month ago. It came out of the blue. I never listen to excessively loud music or sounds so that could not have caused it. It is very annoying. I have always wanted to be an airline pilot. I am 26 years old and will be entering a course for my PPL in the near future. Does the ringing in my ear affect this? I can't hear the ringing when there are other sounds around me, but in silence I can hear it. Its so annoying. Any help would be so greatly appreciated! :).

Pilots wear headphones that will probably protect your ears. You should be fine.
