Hi my name is Marcel Van eyk I'm from New Zealand and I have tinnitus.

I think I have had tinnitus for a long time, but I always thought I was normal.

My tinnitus got worse a couple days ago and it makes me a little depressed because I never listen to music I always wear ear muffs when mowing the lawn. I noticed it got worse when I attended a youth group (my friend invited me). They had loud music and you could feel the bass quiet well. I stayed away from the bass and loud music, but when I went home I couldn't sleep 'cause of this loud ringing in my ear.

The next morning it was still ringing and today its still ringing and quiet loudly.

I'm scared and don't know what to do.

Marcel,

I hope what you're going through is just what's known as a spike. When you're t gets louder for a few minutes to days after you are exposed to loud noise. Try to stay positive and give things time to work themselves out. Many members on the site use musicians ear plugs for when they may be exposed to loud sounds but still want to hear. Unlike when you mow the lawn and you want maximum protection like ear muffs. Be patient and don't let your mind run away with what if's.

Keep us posted.

Welcome to the forum Marcel. It is not unusual to have unstable ears and spikes after a event which may have given you some acoustic trauma. Usually the recovery may take longer than a few days. So don't try to count the days, perhaps budget weeks or months for it to get better. This will help you be more calm and relax, and keep the stress & anxiety level down. The last two things can aggravate tinnitus. So try your best to stay positive that within a few weeks or months, things will go back to normal. The body will take its time to heal and you will try to stay out of the way by being positive. In the meantime, you can try mask your tinnitus with some soothing nature sounds if your T bothers you much. Have you done masking yet? Take care. God bless.

@Marcel Van eyk ,
Welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
For now you can play music you can relax to and on low volume when you need a break from your tinnitus.
Have your doctor check your ears and have your hearing tested .
If you have allergies try an antihistamine.(tree and grass pollen is high)
Love glynis
