Ear Infection
Hey! so my ringing started on the 28th of July evening.
Although there are quite a few things to factor in. For one i have had these kind of 2-3 second lasting ringings in my ear for probably about 3 days before the constant ringing, until the next day it rang but hasn't gone away. That night i thought it may of been because of a buildup of earwax so i tried to scrub it out with a q tip in my right ear, brushing my eardrum by accident *facepalm*. so the next day i noticed i had a pain and feeling of stuffyness in my right ear, (i can still feel heat, pain and stuffyness in it today),along with ringing the next morning. i just lived on with it, assuring myself it would be gone soon. its fairly mild compared to other cases iv'e heard of. the pitch is high and vairying in volume from low to medium, although still annoys me a lot. if i tap either ear with some force or shake my head it starts ringing way louder for about a minute, which i find kind of weird :/
and when i do find myself being able to ignore it my ear feels weird, almost as if its full (not in a painful way though)
My mum has been putting olive oil in my ear to try and get any wax out if it's stuck.
I wear over ear headphones quite alot but never very loudly to skype friends and play games but rarely shooting games (not for about 2 weeks before the onset anyways). the ringing varies in loudness, sometimes barely noticable and sometimes louder, sometimes buzzing, sometimes ringing. the ringing seems to only occour in my right ear, but im not 100% sure about my left, it could just feel like my right because it hurts a bit there. i'm going to go and see my GP on Monday (3 days from now) if it isn't gone by then. I have music on at a low to medium volume through my phone to drown it out, and use white noise to fall asleep at night.

So what do you guys think, will it go away? if so how long do you think it will stay for. it's starting to drive me a bit insane, sure you guys can relate to that. Anyway thanks for hearing me out!

It may go away okay so dont worry.
Try to relax and u will soon get more positive responses from tinnitustalk family.

If u panic it wont help it but relaxing will.

I agree. Panic and anxiety plus stressing the body will aggravate tinnitus. The best thing is to try stay positive and calm as possible. It may not easy at first but it is ok. After some time the body will adjust. There are many young people who have T and get better over time. Perhaps their younger body can heal better than the older folks. Make sure you have some masking if the ringing is too annoying. It will help to stay calm. Take care & God bless.

I suggest getting some NAC to help protect your hearing. Also, ask for a short course of corticosteroids as that has helped people lower their tinnitus in the early stages. Anyway, for now calm down. Things will get better as there will be treatments for tinnitus in the future 3-5 years. Good luck.

Ask your mom not to try and loosen ear wax on her own. Let your doctor do it. You may have an middle ear infection or impacted wax in which case your tinnitus will likely go away. Did you have any noise trauma before you noticed the ringing? Do you notice any hearing loss or difficulty making things out in either ear? See your doctor and make sure to get all your questions answered

Just got back from the GP, I've got an infection in my right ear, he's put me on a course of amoxicillin, 3 times a day for a week. Hopefully things clear up after that. Thanks for all the responses!
