Hello!

I'm rather new here so not sure where to post this, but i desperate!
I got a ringing 3 months back after a night on my computer. I have never heard any loud music and haven't used headphones in 5 years or so (my hearing tests are perfect). I have been to ENT but they cannot say what caused the ringing. They say it's T but they use T as a group of non diagnosed people and send me out the door saying it will not disappear. while another one say it will. I have tried to talk to them about my symptoms to to speak, but they just brush it aside thinking they already diagnosed me (which they haven't i asked and they said they couldn't say). That's why i need your help! I have tried to tell every doctor now that I noticed a few weeks after the ringing began that my ear that rang was clogged and it still is plus I got this weird jaw problem. My jaw problem is quite unusual. It pops and crack from monday till friday but every saturday or sunday it acts up! It's like it suddenly goes out of place and I cannot bite together. One half of my lower jaw hits my upper jaw first and forces my jaw to open up instead of biting down. And its gone my monday thursday same weeks. It was going on before the T began but maybe it caused the T? I'm not sure if I'm chasing ghosts here, but if I can get rid go the god damn ringing I'm willing to do that!

Do any of you think I am right or am I just growing insane? ;)

thanks for reading!

Welcome to the forum @untamed wolf.
I think your tinnitus is jaw related.
Read up on Tempromandibular joint problems.
Your jaw joint is right by your middle ear and the jaw problem will irritate the jaw and cause inflammation in that area and cause a well known tinnitus problem TMJ for short.

You need to see your dentist and have TMJ diagnosed and he can make you a mouth guard to wear to keep your jaw working better and stops the cracking, crunching, popping etc.
TMJ can cause tinnitus and middle ear
pressure.....lots of love glynis

I agree with @glynis

But there's something I've noticed myself. After getting tinnitus, and reading about jaw, neck, ear pressure and other related issues, I tend to pay more attention to those areas and am noticing things happening. I am 100% sure they have always been like that and are normal, but tinnitus and worrying about what it could be makes me draw far more attention to anything happening there, especially in the ears!

I hope you get to the bottom of it, good luck!

I doubt the symptoms are coincidental. Being able to link your tinnitus to a tangible problem like this, in a sense, is good news. It holds out promise for effective treatment of the tinnitus.

Thanks for the quick replies! I know (and ENT have told me) that I probably just never noticed my jaw problem before and with T I do, but I'm not sure that is true... I'm a very anxious person in general and I tend to notice every little detail and both my clogged ear and jaw is very new. I will defiantly seek out my dentist but I don't have total fate in them, since every ENT I have been to have showed to be a very BIG disappointment in terms of caring. Should I maybe seek out a more professional dentist or a jaw expert? I'm not sure. I can't help thinking that are connected especially with my weird jaw problem. I am just so new at this so I have no idea where to start...

Even if the problems are coincidental, getting the jaw problem properly assessed is a good thing. You know, my tinnitus also started at night with a computer fan as well; I have always been a very anxious person by nature, my whole life. I Believe us anxious people are at much higher risk for developing tinnitus and other neurological defects than those regular people. I also have had life-long sleep problems--another thing that I believe put me at further risk. I have only recently started treating both of these problems. Improving both conditions has only helped me.
Another thing just occured to me: both your jaw and your anxiety could be conspiring together...

Your dentist will be able to help you or a Maxillofacial Specialist.
I have TMJ and under a Maxillofacial specialist.
They can make you a mouth guard also.
Make sure you don't over stretch your jaw so cut Apple's up etc and no chewing gum and cut meat up small so chew less to help and soft food will help and try not to yawn....lots of love glynis

If you went to another ENT they can tell you about TMJ or maybe offer a routine MRI but it more than likely your jaw causing your tinnitus....lots of love glynis

@AnxiousJon they might actually be plotting against me but I think it's working I'm a mess :( atleast for now.

@glynis did you get any relif or did it go away completely? My ENT couldn't care less about me so it's unlikely any ENT will ever give me a rutine MRI. Any tips to pressure a MRI to happend? I'm running out of ENTs

Just ask ENT if you think a routine MRI could be done .
In England we mostly get one but more if other symptoms are presented.
Like my previous post ,your dentist or Maxillofacial specialist can sort TMJ out.
I wear a mouth guard 24/7 now and stops my jaw from crunching and cracking but my tinnitus is due to Menieres Disease so got it for life.
The mouth guard should help you a lot but your dentist or specialist can talk to you about one and your choice to wear one....lots of love glynis

You dont go to the ENT with jaw problems, you go to the dentist. If your tinnitus is related, they may be able to cure it and your tinnitus will resolve when your jaw problem is.
