Cause of Tinnitus

It's been 3 years since March that my ears won't shut up. But I don't want to die anymore. So that's cool. My tinnitus is just part of me now, it's weird to say it because I honestly never thought I could live with it. Now it just bothers me some nights, mostly cured by a fan... or when I'm sick and congested. Adds to the uncomfortable bullshit in my ears/head.

But I'm happy. I'm happy I didn't blow my brains out because now it's just a nuisance that my brain has somehow just gotten used to. I learned to focus on all other sounds around me to ignore the loud ass ringing, and over time I just do it subconsciously.

It'll be alright dudes.

I haven't posted in a long time but I joined as a scared person whose ears had been ringing for a week. I promise it gets better. Trust your brain. It's awesome and it will help you grow accustomed to the ringing.

Also up until 3 months you got a shot! Get the steroid injections and see if you have and inflammation problem. If after that your ears still ring. You will be bummed but I promise it will get better and not matter over time. Honestly the stuffy feeling and feeling of water in my ears is more annoying than the actual ringing now.

Could this be Inflammation you think?I've experienced that a little bit myself and wondering if that's what inflammation feels like?I'm no Expert just curious if inflammation plays a part in tinnitus, if so how much.

I gave up trying to figure out what exactly caused mine. Haha... but it's probably neurological or cardiovascular in origin I'd assume.. smoking cigarettes made my ears feel full and all the bullshit so I quit, just recently started the bad habit again. And it will bother it sometimes. But yeah inflammation is a cause for t, inner ear or jaw inflammation can cause it for sure.

Astro, curious how long it took for you to not noice the ringing? Thanks for your posts!
It's always there. And I always notice it but it's just a passing thought. I don't focus on it. I'm not going to lie to you dude. It bothered me A LOT for the first 2 years. But you just joined so I'm assuming your tinnitus is new and it can go away. Get some prednisone (shots or oral). Most tinnitus goes away in about 3-6 months... all of us here are just the unlucky ones.

Thanks for the reply! My ENT did prescribe prednisone, I just haven't started it yet. He did say it's worth a shot but didn't think it would help. Why do you suggest the prednisone?

Hey there! I'm so happy to hear you're doing better, thanks for sharing. Stories like this make it easier to bear. I was just curious, did you do anything in terms of therapy/medication/etc. to help or was it just time? Did you initially try anything that didn't help or made it worse?

Thank you. Eating healthy and any activity that reduces stress and inflammation helped me. But the main thing is just time. You gotta give yourself time to "get used to it". But in the mean time get massages and facials, yoga, meditation, spending a lot of lot of time outside. Staying away from smoking and drinking helped a little too.

I didn't end up taking it. He said he didn't think it would help and maybe only make it worse because predisone is known to increase anxiety. I went back and saw another ENT and she recommend I not take it. My first ENT said "It will get better, and if it doesn't, you will get used to it. You'll be okay." I still have it, 2.5 months in. It can come and go now and is definitely tied to my anxiety/stress levels.
