I'm Right Now Sitting in Silence

Really? What did you do to quiet your shitnitus?

No idea if something helped or if it got better on its own.
  1. Osteopathic treatment 2 weeks ago, trapezius, facial muscles ecc.
  2. Nasal spray because i have some kind of allergy.
  3. Lots of cardio, walking, weightlifting and healthy eating (did that also before T)
  4. Supplements are Vitamin D3, Omega 3 and Zinc.
  5. No headphones, no club, no loud bars or concerts at the moment
  6. Musician earplugs whenever i'm driving and foam ear plugs in the gym.
My tinnitus is not a complete 0 all the time, but i need to be in a dead silent room to hear a trace of it. I hope it continues like this.

Curcumin is supposed to be good for tinnitus?

The only scientific link I was able to find between curcumin and tinnitus is this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=tinnitus+curcumin - which concludes with the following:
"In rats, cisplatin ototoxicity can be prevented with curcumin or curcumin-vitamin E combination."

It's used to prevent ototoxicity during a cisplatin treatment (a chemo drug), not as a cure. And this was done on rats, not humans.

Alrighty then.

1. ly411575 in a notch1 inhibitor
2. It restored hearing in mice by regrowing their cochlear hair cells, orally and intratempanically. Orally caused toxic side effects, hence direct injection.
3. It restored cochlear hair cells in vitro in a human cochlea explant.
4. Ly411575 is the main ingredient in fx322, which is in phase2 trials to restore hearing.
5. It has to be injected into the ear because ly411575 is toxic.
6. Curcumin is a potent, non toxic notch1 inhibitor.
7. It is worth exploring as a natural alternative to ly411575 for hearing restoration because it is a notch1 inhibitor that can be taken orally, which I am doing.

The key is supression/inhibition of the notch1 signalling pathway.

You are getting better.
It may just be an immediate affect of the curcumin's anti-oxidant properties. My tinnitus is not gone. It was almost gone this morning though, pretty much all day until 3 hours ago. I am not expecting any real results for a couple of months, like the mouse experiments.

Damnnnn...

I just mowed my grass, with earplugs in. After I got done weed eating I still had my earplugs in and if you know anything about earplugs and shitty-nitus then you know that's earplugs are what you use to get up close and personal with your T sounds. as soon as I stopped the weed eater, with earplugs in, nothing. No shitty-nitus. WHAT IN THE WORLD!? Its there now. I'm day 5 into my experiment and my shitty-nitus is so crazy right now coming and going. It's quite an emotional roller coaster.

How loud has your T been in the past? Do you have any hyperacusis?

or habituation ....?

or habituation ....?

Depends what you mean by that. If you mean that i just habituated to the sound and notice it less, then no.

I can say the volume dropped and sounds vanished. My left ear is 99% silent now, and in my right ear there is more or less just one tone left. Before there was a louder baseline tone and whistling over that. The whistling is now silent and the other tone fluctuates between complete silence and just audible in dead silent rooms.

But i don´t know if anything helped or if it got better at its own. However i don´t believe its just habituation.

It has spiked before probably around 60db. Usually it hovers around 35db. I have very slight but noticable hyperacusis in very high ranges. It seems to go away at night and return when I wake up. Since I started this experiment it has came back at night time, but goes away when I wake up. Like right now, I woke up about 15 minutes ago and I cant hear it at all, just like yesterday.

Next nobel prize.
Lol. Even if this works it will probably be ignored by the tinnitus community at large and especially the medical industry.

@JohnAdams, congratulations on recent curcumin discoveries and tinnitus improvement(s)! Regarding the "coming and going", I'd focus on the "going". To get tinnitus to even start changing is a huge development. I can understand the roller coaster effect however, but for the moment, you at least have hope. -- All the Best!

I'm really happy for you. Enjoy it with every fiber of your being!
I wish. I'm getting my ass handed to me with this programming crap at work right now. Plus my tinnitus is back. Not as bad. But it is still back. That's the worst part of it being gone, or not noticable, at times I'm always just dreading for when it comes back. Over the last few days at work I've suddenly not had to use my masking sounds.

How large and what brand?
I have definitely experienced a change in my tinnitis symptoms. It is definitely not gone. I seem to be able to tolerate quiet environments better, because of an overall quiter T sound(s). I dont absolutely know if I'm delusional, experiencing the immediate antioxidant affects of curcumin, or genuinely recovering. It is almost impossible to be sure at this point. I have read that the dosage I'm at is safe for a few months, that's not absolutley proven either. I have found quite a few medical papers that make me feel like this is a worthy and safe experiment.

I take 4-5 grams of curcumin mixed in a tablespoon of butter and a tablespoon of black pepper twice a day. I dont think the brand matters so long as you get it from a reputable store. I get mine at a neo hippy grocery store called Earthfare that is supposed to be legit when it comes to health food and supplements. Funny thing is that Wal-Mart sells the same brand, Jarrow. Detractors claim that curcumin cant be absorbed but that's dumb because the way I take it makes my hands and feet turn yellow, therefore it is in my bloodstream, in my cochleas. I also take CBD oil, which probably doesnt do anything for tinnitus, and ECGC, 2 times a day at 2x the recommended dosage and a concentrated omega 3 fish oil goo. That is what I do. Like I said, it is too early for me to make any claims, and my tinnitus is certainly not totally gone. As I write this, my tinnitus is certainly here with me. This is a hard thing to objectively quantify.

Would it have the same effect just taking the pill? I have acid reflux so I can't take black pepper :( is there an alternative you may know?
