I'm Right Now Sitting in Silence

Would it have the same effect just taking the pill? I have acid reflux so I can't take black pepper :( is there an alternative you may know?
I would think that butter should be fine alone. My theory is that you have enough when your palms turn yellow. That means it is in your blood. Just experiment.

Once again, to reiterate. I am not claiming anything regarding curcumin. Anyone should take care in regards to any supplement they take. Whatever I am stating is based on my own experience and conjecture. Everything I have stated should be taken as anectodical. Our bodies are delicate and messing with certain things could have adverse affects. Always consult your doctor before beginning any health regimens.

@JohnAdams

Love your research!

Hopefully you continue to make progress in hearing silence again.

Is it okay to take Turmeric & Curcumin combined capsules? Or would you recommend just to take curcumin by itself?

I am not a doctor or a medical professional, therefore I cannot make any medical recommendations. That being said, the supplement that it is the subject of my research is curcumin. Curcumin is a component of turmeric, therefore if you take turmeric you will be taking curcumin by default.

I take pure curcumin. 500 mg. tablets. I take 8 grams a day, with butter. 4 grams in the morning, 4 at night. Like I stated earlier, I am making no specific medical claims about this compound nor have I claimed that it has cured my tinnitus. I am not a licensed medical professional so please do your own research and consult with your doctor if you decide to begin any new supplement regimens.

I understand thanks. I was taking some a while ago but I stopped since I had my 4 wisdom teeth removed recently and it's advised not to take it before or after surgeries.

I will start taking it again :)

A few questions if you don't mind answering.

Have you found out your diagnosis?

Do you have or had Hyperacusis?

Do you have bilateral or unilateral T?
Did your tinnitus start in one ear then transfer to the other?

I have not been diagnosed.

I believe that I have hyperacusis at higher frequencies.

My high frequency T is in both sides and there is a pronounced mid-high frequency tone in my left ear.

It started in both ears. Never moved.

It fluctuates a lot.

I have definitely experienced a change in my tinnitis symptoms. It is definitely not gone. I seem to be able to tolerate quiet environments better, because of an overall quiter T sound(s). I dont absolutely know if I'm delusional, experiencing the immediate antioxidant affects of curcumin, or genuinely recovering. It is almost impossible to be sure at this point. I have read that the dosage I'm at is safe for a few months, that's not absolutley proven either. I have found quite a few medical papers that make me feel like this is a worthy and safe experiment.

I take 4-5 grams of curcumin mixed in a tablespoon of butter and a tablespoon of black pepper twice a day. I dont think the brand matters so long as you get it from a reputable store. I get mine at a neo hippy grocery store called Earthfare that is supposed to be legit when it comes to health food and supplements. Funny thing is that Wal-Mart sells the same brand, Jarrow. Detractors claim that curcumin cant be absorbed but that's dumb because the way I take it makes my hands and feet turn yellow, therefore it is in my bloodstream, in my cochleas. I also take CBD oil, which probably doesnt do anything for tinnitus, and ECGC, 2 times a day at 2x the recommended dosage and a concentrated omega 3 fish oil goo. That is what I do. Like I said, it is too early for me to make any claims, and my tinnitus is certainly not totally gone. As I write this, my tinnitus is certainly here with me. This is a hard thing to objectively quantify.

So you mix the butter, curcumin and pepper together? How do you even get it down? I had been on cbd oil when my T started. Annnd, can't pinpoint the exact moment, but the same week I got T, I had to have my eyes dilated. Had a really bad experience with the retina specialist. 24 hours later, my left lazy eye starts drifting severely to the left. It has sort of gotten better, but it's really out of control whenever I use CBD. Sucks because it was really helping me with chronic back pain.

Thanks for answering my questions.

"My high frequency T is in both sides and there is a pronounced mid-high frequency tone in my left ear."
I have the same frequency as of right now.

I'll keep up with your progress and ask you more questions randomly if you don't mind :)

It tastes good to me. I wash it down with coffee.

Hi @JohnAdams

much appreciated your research. You wrote that your tinnitus fluctuates a lot, but have you recognized any significant changes in your tinnitus since you startet your experiment, like quiet days are more quiet or more moments with no tinnitus? An objective type of test could be a regular test of your hearing. If hearing cells are really able to regrow due to curcumin supplementation then your hearing should improve.

Last question. How do you determine the right amount of curcumin to achieve the results you are expecting? Maybe you need a hundredfold dosage?

Yeah you're right about the dosage. I have no idea. The only speculation I have is that I would think that if curcumin was anything like the notch1 inhibitor that was used to heal the mice then a similar dosgae would be suitable. The mice were orally fed 50mg per kg of body mass which would be about 3.5 grams for a 150lbs adult. I am taking over 2x that. But theres alot about this I just dont know.

I have had a streak of quiet days since about 4-5 days ago, in which I have experienced several periods of no perceptible tinnitus. As I type this I can hear it but I'm also sitting in absolute silence. My overall experience is that it seems like it is very slowly decreasing. This could very well just be an affect of being on curcumin in general and not any type of actual healing. I just dont know at this point. Very impossible to really tell.

I would appreciate any advice.

I just found out the scientific reason why curcumin will not work to regenerate hair cells. It's still good for you though.

laying in silence right now. wtf. why?
I think you made it

Hey John how is your tinnitus now ?
it's here. kinda spiked today after this horribly loud and stupid church service a coworker invited me to. it's back to low right now. last night I put a pillow over my head and it was very very low. weird how it comes and goes. it's so subjective. I don't think curcumin initiated hair cell regeneration though. I hate this. I am just a shadow of my former self.

What kind of on and off tone/tones are you experiencing if you don't mind me asking

all of it. Sometimes (emphasis on sometimes) my tinnitus goes away almost entirely and I can perceive my lost frequencies and it sounds like a notch filer.

Any chance at all your T might be somewhat stress induced? Do you find that on these "almost entirely" gone days you tend to be more relaxed and calm to begin with as opposed to the others ?

This is my situation as well. For me at least my chill days are a result of waking up and tinnitus being low not the other way around could have to do with stress. Who knows
