But could anyone say anything that would help us to feel better? Are the BTA aware of Allan's passing? He posted on their Facebook page quite frequently and had a Top Fan designation for a while. Allan had a way with words. I liked the way he advocated for research and pointed out the obvious answers to BTA's proposed studies. I will miss that.
I also find it interesting that no one has come forward to help the Tinnitus Talk community deal with the grief some of us must be feeling.
Where are the psychologists when you actually need them? Have they at least made an inquiry if we are alright?
I don't know the circumstances of his passing and only suspect it was related to his tinnitus. He obviously struggled but at the same time did everything a sufferer can do to ease the struggles.
At the moment I see only failure on the part of the NHS and the BTA. Shame on you. You need to do better. That's what Allan was asking of you.

Yeah I think this is spot on.But could anyone say anything that would help us to feel better?
We are only too aware of the brutality of this thing.
Don't we have to make our own adjustment to it?
I've wondered the same about Neuromod because I believe Allan was still effectively a patient of theirs. Are the BTA aware of Allan's passing?
Probably. And I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that everyone has shown great restraint but I believe as a community we need to know the circumstances of Allan's passing.Don't we have to make our own adjustment to it?
I know that in the funeral notice, the family asked to donate to BTA in lieu of flowers. Are the BTA aware of Allan's passing?

Thank you for the update. We have a member who has been in touch with someone from Allan's family, but thus far we there's no line between me/Hazel and the family. We obviously want to let them grieve in peace, so it's up to the family if they want to get in touch with us (they have our information now). For what it's worth, we'd be very much willing to honor Allan's legacy by having a research fundraiser in his name (something similar to what we did with @Danny Boy where the donors decided where the funds go). We'd also like to create something about him in terms of raising awareness of tinnitus and the plight the severe tinnitus sufferers face. One thing that many remember about Allan is that he didn't shy away from discussing the glaring issues in the field of tinnitus; for example, the lack of research funding on both here and social media. He could be found on the Facebook pages of all major tinnitus organizations trying to advocate for the cause. He did all this while suffering himself so greatly, remaining civil and dignified. I will never forget him - he was unlike many others in the community. If the community had more members like Allan with his relentless pursuit of better treatments, better advocacy, better research priorities, we'd be much better off.
I'll let everyone know of any new updates.

Neuromod is aware.
This is very true. He always sounded very polite and decent.Truly heartbreaking. My condolences to the family.
Despite the torment caused by his tinnitus, he always was a true gentleman in his comments on here.
