Cause of Tinnitus
Chronic headphones use and acute noise induced trauma.
While I know most Tinnitus Talk members don't live close to each other, and travelling with tinnitus might be an ordeal to a lot of people. I do believe support is important, as such I wonder if we shouldn't organize In Real Life events where members of the Tinnitus Talk community can meet up, talk of their experiences and provide support to each other.

I am not sure this has been proposed before, what does everyone think of this idea?

I went to a few face-to-face ATA support meetings and did not find them very helpful.

Yes, I certainly wouldn't want to meet many others with tinnitus. Only because most of us already have fragile mental states and I'm sure doing more than just talking on here would worsen it for me.. but that's my personal opinion. Maybe for some it would help.

For example, if my partner were also someone who had tinnitus then it'd be 10x more difficult of a relationship. But thankfully she doesn't (and I never wish for her or anyone I know to get this, which maybe my warnings may have saved them ;))

For me, the reason was not that at all. I just realized that what I experience and what they experience is night and day, so the discussions were completely irrelevant to me. Suggestions like "sleep with a fan" or "find a distraction" abounded, and most people trivialized and laughed out the symptoms as if they were only a minor annoyance.

Finally, there isn't much I can discover from live contact that I can't find out about online (such as on this forum). If anything, most people were greatly misinformed and knew very little about "the state of the art", so the value was mostly related to me educating them, which is cool and I was happy to do, but not something I can spend too much time on on a regular basis, unfortunately.

Also, I'm not looking to make new friends either.

I did Skype before with some Tinnitus Talk members in the past but no real life meetings.
