Tinnitus Since
11/2013
Hi all,

my name is Steven and I'm 28 years old. I started to notice tinnitus on tuesday 12/11/2013 when I woke up.
I did attend a party on saturday with some loud music. I stayed there for 1 hour and drunk 2 beers. When I got home I noticed some ringing but I was very tired so I easily felt asleep. Sunday & monday I had no issues and did my normal stuff.

I went to see my GP on thursday, he checked my ears, saw nothing wrong and told me to wait and see for 2 weeks and get an appointment with an ENT when things didn't improve. Instead I immediality sheduled an appointment with an ENT. So on monday I saw the ENT. All test came back normal. He explained a little bit of tinnitus and gave me a prescription for steriods which I took for 10 days.
At follow-up 2 weeks later I told him there was no improvement and he suggested HBOT. He explained to me that while the medication has some scientific evidence there was no prove for HBOT but some people did benefit. So I took the shot and got 10 sessions (for 5 days, 2x a day).

At follow-up end december 2013 there was no improvement and he sheduled an MRI-scan which came back normal. He explained to me that 'they' know little about tinnitus but there's still a change that the brain 'filter-out' the sound of tinnitus with time. He gave me a prescription for clonezepam. I tried it for 1 month, but no improvent for the level of my tinnitus sound. He basically told me there were a lot of causes of tinnitus and there was really no way to tell which caused mine.

I made an appointment with my GP to tell her I want a second opinion so I took some tests at another hospital a couple months ago, but they were all fine. The audiogram had good results and was all within normal limits. They told me there was still a change for it to go away.

Now 9 months later I still go the tinnitus...

Well this is my story and would like participate on this forum because basiccaly i am on my own because people around me dont understand so i stopped talking about it.

Sorry to hear that. I just got Tinnitus 3 weeks ago from an Assault 2 months ago. Police didn't even help after I reported the incident.
My ENT doc told me there is no cure and to take Lipo Flavonoid pills from CVS. I do have ENT and audiologist appt in a few weeks. Life sucks now. I just wanna go to sleep peacefully again :(

Check out this youtube, the doc here says there is some audio device to train your brain. I'm going to ask my doc for this.

Hi Steven welcome to our clan, hope you get to pick up some great tips, that helps you personally.Have good old look around the forums.Lots of info all round.Sad that you've got this condition ,truly.
Drs who've not got this don't really know what answers to give us as you found out,but plenty here can explain it ,in more detail,in ways I've never been told in the past.Good Luck Steven

Sorry to hear of this. I've has t for 17 years an most of time it is something I pay no mind to . Aometimnin change of seasons or loud music it acts up for a few weeks but I know it comes down to baseline . No one knows you have it and I find it so weird I'm seeing a new ent this week after all these years am going to get a second opinion . I believe they are getting close best of luck

I agree Ronnieo.. People ask me at work "How was your weekend?" or "How are you doing?"
I just have to LIE and say it was great. Only I know the sleepless nights I have to go thru since I'm newbie T.
I downloaded some ocean waves app and have been listening to that trying to fall asleep. I turn on the fan and that helps too.. but I miss the silence. :(

The sleeping part does get better. I really struggled at first and had to take some Xanix. Now I can usually sleep with Melanonin (natural over the counter) and sound. Hang in there!
