Is Bonding Over Tinnitus Weird?

I ask this because I think I'm attracted to one user on this forum. Of course nothing is going to come of such feelings but it makes me wonder how odd it would be to find a significant other in a place like this. Like "oh, I can't get that ringing out of my ears either! We have so much in common". It would be weird to date someone who bonds over a shared annoyance in your life, but that's just me.

@Lex or @Elinor so are you interested in this fine and well behaved gentleman?

Nah, having anything in common is good enough for a start.
Mutual understanding is very important in any good relationship, and understanding anothers suffering and through it being considerate is among the greatest bonding-stengtheners there are.

Probably don't want me "stalking you" by commenting here's but I can completely relate to this. There's a guy I like here but I don't no bother because he probably lives far away from me and I don't want to try to hook up with random people on the internet. You don't always know what they're like in real life, or if they really are who they say they are.

If you were to start a relationship with a person with tinnitus, and I mean intrusive tinnitus. They would have an understanding on how this condition can affect a person emotionally and you could both support each other on this. More importantly though is the person's character and yours and whether you have chemistry. This can only be determined over time. I say follow your feelings for life is too short to sit and ponder over such matters.

I wish you well.

Saw 'gay-sexual' and laughed out loud on a silent - but busy - train, thanks.

It is a weird thing to bond over but it's still not out of the ordinary. People usually are more attracted to those who can relate to or understand us. Tinnitus sufferers would ideally be better off with somebody who also has it, knows somebody who has it, or is patient and understanding about it. Last thing anybody wants is to be told to 'get over it' or for somebody to try and dismiss their struggle as them being dramatic or exaggerating. Somebody who has tinnitus is unlikely to turn around and dismiss you, or force you into loud situations.

My ex had tinnitus but she was pretty reckless about it so there wasn't much to relate to her about, other than us both having dying cat parades in our head and ears. Plus her nagging was just another tone to add to my tinnitus so it wasn't all that beneficial for me, personally. But that's just my experience.

That's pretty fly writing, by the way.

I love that, especially the "dying cat parades" part :cat:

Can I use it for some stuff I'm writing ?
