Hi,

New to T. Had it for about 3 weeks post loud concert. No hearing loss. Had a good day. Did not notice it all today. Even in quiet environments. Thought it might be going away as two ENTs told me they thought it was likely temporary. Now, sitting here watching TV, I just noticed it. Can really hear it. So bummed out. I was hoping it was getting better. Was that just a trick of my mind or can it come and go? Did not use any anxiety meds today and now feel like I am spiraling back down again. Sick to my stomach over it.

If you didn't hear it all day you're already on a good track. I have had T for 3 months. I hear mine as soon as I wake up, at work, driving. Pretty much all day long I hear mine except in the shower. I wish I could go for hours without noticing it but can only go a couple minutes max. So in my opinion you'll be alright and habituate quickly if it doesn't go away.

First, at 3 weeks in, and especially with the ENTs advising you that it's likely temporary, do try to keep a positive outlook because you very well may be one of the lucky ones.

Second, yes, tinnitus can cycle in very unpredictable ways. However, to have a quiet day so soon, that's a very good sign. My first quiet day came after eight months. I still get quiet days and mild days, but have had tinnitus long enough to know that chances are the T will return again. My baseline T is 7 or 8 out of 10, so when it gets mild, I'm really grateful and just enjoy it while it lasts. :)

Yes. I have moderate and mild days. Sometimes T goes away completely. Be sure to manage sleep and anxiety.
