Is It Going Away for Me?

Well guess it's not too bad to use them the first months? Some restaurants can go over 85 dB, if lot's of people are talking and drinking.

I agree. Restaurants can be surprisingly loud, especially if it's a small venue with a low ceiling, with tons of people in it. When thereare dozens, sometimes even hundreds of people gathered around in a confined space, that alone creates a lot of noise. It's surprising really. On top of that many restaurants play music or then there can even be live music at times. Depends on a restaurant - half-empty bigger venue with no music is quiet, while a crowded open-kitchen restaurant with moderate background music can be really loud.

@fishbone apart from avoiding clubs and concerts what else should i be avoiding? People have recommended wearing plugs when driving, walking through the streets and on the train as well as in the gym. Hopefully not too late to start the silent treatment
You don't have to wear plugs when walking through the streets unless you are in NYC (or other large cities :p). I do wear protection when driving though as I sometimes commute 2 hours per day.

For restaurants, it depends. I measure most of them around 75 db and I won't use protection then. But some restaurants are really loud (average above 85 db).

Hmmm if they were playing loud music i would put plugs in but not many restaurants i go to have that. I like the ambient noise as it masks t anyway.

The NAC capsules are huge! Does anyone have any experience opening the capsule and swigging the contents down with water? Any unwanted side effects ?also how is the tAste

@orbiter12 I would like to suggest you try and calm down and not be too concerned about your tinnitus. It has reduced in intensity so just go with the flow. I advise not to use earplugs for driving, walking etc as you risk making your auditory system hypersensitive. Try and forget about tinnitus and enjoy life and have fun.
All the best
Michael

People are different, I never wear ear plugs when driving. One of my rides is a convertible and I don't wear any ear protection, unless i am driving on the freeway. If the gym is loud and people are screaming and dropping heavy weights, then wearing an ear plug is a must. I use to bodybuild and the gym was super loud and i wore my ear plugs with no shame and worked out.

Tinnitus is horrible, but it doesn't make me get scared of noise. I measure my environments (at times) with a DB meter and i know the levels and what is safe for me. I do full contact martial arts and We hit bags and punch gloves and bags. It is loud and I careless, i don't let the noise , take me away from what I love to do. This is how, I am....I am not advising anyone to do what I do.

All I say is that, don't let tinnitus make you limited, life is beautiful. Protect you ears at all times, but live a quality life too :)

Common thing with T (though its bit of a chicken or egg question) is anxiety. It happens in most of cases, many times you dont even have to be aware of it.

Being protective of your audatory system is cool, but overprotectivness and fear can lead up to anxiety increase and therefore much stronger perception of T at the end of the day. Hence why I said you shouldnt avoid music. Music is one of most relaxing thing there is, just keep it to loudspeakers and under 85dB. But dont shun the sound. If you work in loud enviroment, consider earplugs. Otherwise, in some sort of office job just keep doing what you have been.

Just dont try to overthink it is what I am saying. Walk the streets as you did, go to the pub, have a chat, just avoid loud exposure to noise like gigs or whatnot. Its a simple rule, no need to check dB meter all the time. You know what is loud and what isnt. Avoid the former, dont care for the later.
