Is It Possible That a Doctor Cannot See an Inner Ear Infection?

Has anyone had the experience of a doctor missing an inner ear infection, and another doctor diagnosing it after?

I have had LOUD tinnitus for a month now, with occasional aching in my ears and itchiness. Anyone ever experience this? My ENT basically told me some people get tinnitus for no reason and referred me to a therapist after audiology confirmed no hearing loss... I need some kind of hope. This literally came on out of the blue one night. Please share your thoughts and experiences! Thank you!

Inner ear infections are labyrinthitis. You probably mean middle ear infection.

There are some folks that get tinnitus for no reason, but many times the cause can be identified. Did anyone take a noise exposure history? Any new medications?
