- Cause of Tinnitus
- Unknown - maybe Covid 19
Hi - I would just like to give a hello to you all and a brief overview as to why I arrived here - it may seem a little confusing too.
I have been driven to find out just what on earth is happening to me and whether or not I can actually hear what I sincerely believe I can hear --- is it really a washer/dryer machine that booms through the walls, or is it tinnitus?
I must firstly say that I recently had COVID-19 and the first time I heard any "washing machine/tumble dryer" noise was then... I was then hospitalised for several weeks and was on heavy oxygen for 2 weeks - I have read COVID-19 and oxygen use could be a cause of tinnitus.
What made me seriously consider whether I may have tinnitus is that recently I have been hearing a drone type noise of a night that stops me sleeping and I have been so convinced it was a neighbour running their machine at night that I started a complaint with my local council and tonight, two council noise enforcement officers, came out to my house to hear my "inconsiderate" neighbour using his machines... and BOTH officers could not hear a sound... they did ask me to put on a pair of headphones and asked whether I could still hear the sound but of course I could not... but this has led me to question whether I have some kind of tinnitus and I am very confused to say the least... to add to the confusion I can absolutely tell when the machine STOPS as I hear an absolute silence and NO machine noise at all.
I have just read that it is thought that COVID-19 may be a cause of tinnitus and as I have just recently begun to recover from this I wonder if this may be that cause... but how do I tell or find out?
If I walk out down the street I do not hear any type of machine and as mentioned I can absolutely tell when the "machine" I hear is NOT in use! So I am of the belief that what I hear is real but not many others can hear it.
I feel I am going mad and currently have been hearing the "noisy neighbours machine" for 2 weeks and even kept a diary of their inconsiderate behaviour - this has all been part of the noise complaint made to my local council... but now I am unsure IF it is even real.
Sorry for rambling and perhaps confusing post but I really am struggling... I haven't slept properly for around 2 weeks (due to the noise I hear) so perhaps not best able to judge.
Is there any help available please?
Sincerely,
Stefanovich.
