I was wondering if any research has been done to identify the different type of tinnitus sound and region (Cochlea, Brain, nerve) the tinnitus has had origin.
For Example: if the sound is ringing, then may be it is from cochlea ear cells producing the signals (Cochlea Synaptic Tinnitus) etc.
If such protocols are established, then some day one can just, identify the type of sound and start a specific type of treatment.
