Is TRT Effective Against Cochlear Hyperacusis?

@pytajnick Otoacustic emmision If I remember correctly.
Are you registred to consultation in Kajetany?
Thx for response No. I am in the UK and will have some tests next month in London. I also suspect to have some sort of coachelar damage and i wonder how can it be tested. Do you remember if they conducted Auditory brainsteam response to test your auditory nerves as well? Were your tests loud?
My H also increased exponentially recently...

@pytajnick Yes,my aural nerve was also tested and everything was ok with him.Tests were loud but somehow I was not felling any discomfort or pain with it despite my H what was a bit straigne. There was another examination The discomfort level, also even louder sounds were tolerable but if I am watching old video there is sometimes sound disorders and it can produce some quiet sound.Just like when using old tape with music always before music starts you have such sound.Sometimes white noise sometimes just high frequencies that are worse for H.If I will be watching such video I will eventually develop tempolary ear pain due to hyperacousis. If exposure is shorter then I can tolerate louder sounds.
I hope they will assign you to good physician as I had some bad adventures like ENT trying to persuade me that I am suffering from schizophrenia, after making otoacustic emission in Kajetany I have shizophrenia no longer...

I've developed cochlear hyperacusis after acoustic shock 5 years ago as in such cases I've been very close to loudspeakers turned almost full power, one of the symptoms is ear pain when exposed to too loud sound (too loud for my ears but not others).

Is TRT effective against this symptom? I mean after completing TRT this sound-inducted ear pain would disappear? I have no hearing loss.

The short answer is no, TRT is not effective. Being around sound can make you partly improve your tolerance to noise but it is very unlikely that true H is going to go away. Success stories of people who have H due to causes like the one you describe are almost nonexistent.

Do you recall your loudness discomfort levels? How would you describe your Hyperacusis pain? As a real pain or rather very intensive discomfort? Are there any other symptoms/ body reactions that you experience when dealing with loud sounds? You mentioned that only certain forms of sound put you in pain. Other loud noises have no such effect on your H? Have your condition changed over this 5 years period? Do you suffer from Tinnitus as well?

@pytajnick Hyperacousis pain is a real pain. You can compare it to ottitis externa pain maybe. It's not met in other parts of body.Sound can cause only pain, discomfort or a straigne felling like tympanic membrane being forced to stop vibrating by any muscle. This is rather neutral feeling.Recently a train was braking near me and I did not felt any discomfort/pain from this, but this was just a few seconds if this sound would prolong pain would occur. To opposite a quiet sound from background disorder will cause pain after certain time of exposure, causing discomfort before onset.
I think that hyperacousis dimished over time slightly by itself.Maybe TRT would boost this? So far white noise sound generators and inaccesible to me.I have quiet tinnitus loundness being about these of computer fan next to me
