After terrible noise exposure one day, I had ringing in my ears for many long, stressful days. Through prayer and hope, it vanished. I had been also hearing ringing when it got quiet at night, but I can honestly say that thanks to the lord, I have been healed. It's all gone. Praise be to god!

I'm really glad that it went away for you! :) Would you mind sharing how long you had it before it went away and what kind of changes you experienced along the way?

I had experienced it a little before, but never knew what I was until I researched it. I had it for about 2 weeks (really not long, I know) and I really have my heart out for those who have dealt with T for a long time. It got really bad, and then after breaking down and praying about it, I woke up one day and it was gone. :)

YEA! enjoy your silence Bryce. God truly did an amazing thing when he made the human body. Protect your hearing from now on!

Screw God. He's getting a kick in the nuts from me on behalf of everyone here if I ever meet that fruit cake.
Maybe Tinnitus is God calling your attention. It's hard to believe that a good God can watch us suffer but for those that believe, our hope and comfort is that he is there with us in our suffering. Miracles do happen indeed and most success stories are attributed to people who put their trust in God despite their suffering. Believe.

This has happened to me before, and through utter stupidity I got it back. You HAVE to treat your hearing now with the upmost care. That means the following:

1 if you go to clubs, bars or events, always wear at the very least earplugs.
2 you cannot use headphones anymore. If you still decide to use them, do it at your own peril, but at the very least do NOT use in ears but only over the ear. Please only at half volume.
3 be careful with planes, they are very loud. Wear some ear protection when flying.
4 if going to concerts, never stand close to the speakers, but as far away from them as possible.
5 be careful with any ototoxic medicines. Look before taking anything as they can damage your hearing too.

You are VERY close now to the threashold of having permanent tinnitus. I am not trying to scare you, but the next time your ear gets major damage, that could be the one that gives it to you permanent. If you treat your hearing like it's the most precious thing you have from now on, most probably you will be fine and will not get it back.

If my tinnitus is caused by god wanting my attention...he's in for a sollid battering when I knock on the pearly gates.

God definitely answers prayers. Sometimes we need to pay attentio

lol. I do like your sense of humor. My prayer for you is that God will touch your heart. I've had chronic T for weeks now and just this last Sunday it was so bad I begged God to take my life. Then after all the wailing, I prayed for mercy and God heard. Tinnitus went from 50/10 to 3/10 and it's getting better everyday. My purpose is to encourage those who believe. Your answer may not be immediate, but God is listening and he'll help us through our darkest moment.

God? Seriously!? Pfffff

This thread should be deleted. This condition is serious and does not respond to praying to invisible, imaginary beings.

Agreed this is insane to think God has helped you. What a ridiculous concept. Why did he save your tinnitus, but then kill 78 people in the London fires. What kind of a sick God is he? Sounds more like a devil to do that, but save your Tinnitus. I'm glad its cleared up, because we all know its horrific, but please please dont say its because you prayed to God.

Pretty sure it's the tooth fairy helping you, not God. Maybe it's Santa!

Most likely Joe Pesci. That's a guy that gets shit done

No need to be so unfriendly.
im not. just saying, either you are delusional, you are lying, or you must be very special.
tinnitus can be a very serious condition. praying is beyond any alternative treatments.
you are encouraging what can only bee seen as a scam. we do not need that here.
i know you mean well, but that does not help.

Apparently prayer can work, that God prick just doesn't want to help.

If you had Cancer would you go to to doctor or pray?

That tells you all you need to know about your true feelings on the topic.

People should believe in whatever makes them feel good. If you don't believe in God, then just say nothing. Negativity helps no one.

And i too think that prayer can help. Just not for the same reasons as the believers think. It's all a state of mind. And our mind controls what happens with our body. Tinnitus is also a brain issue. So don't dismiss that too easily. It's not just a trick to sell you books on that matter ... We know very little still on so many things concerning our brain.

At least that is my opinion and i don't expect anyone to agree :)

I would not go to a doctor if I had (I do have) tinnitus. I would pray. That would save me $100, a handshake, and "sorry there's nothing I can do for you".

If prayer helps for someone, let them pray! Some people meditate, and nobody ever reacts negative towards that. Your negativity is something we don't need here. Bye

Well that's because rational thinking people understand that there is actually proof of the potential for meditation to heal various conditions, but the "god delusion" does not include rational thinkers. Like I mentioned before, for many sufferers this is a very serious (often life threatening) condition, and we read these threads to gather ideas to ease our suffering, and no matter how much you want to believe it, fairy tales do not fix tinnitus.

I'd like to know the actual testable reason as to why your tinnitus went away.

Maybe prayer helped because it calmed your anxiety about the issue. I doubt there was any wizardry involved in clearing it up.

Well, as long as you look at it from a psychological view-point, like a meditative reaction, in which you compare it to, I have no quarrels with you;)

But as a divine intervention, only designated for the selected few, as it seems is, is what grinds my gears!

Tom
T is a miserable thing to live with. I've had it 2 times. The first time (about 12 years ago, loud noise exposure) lasted over 18 months, but did fade completely away. I'm in my second bout with T, also from noise exposure. I am 9 months in and my T has improved a lot, but it is still an issue and still has some healing to do. I am hopeful for a full recovery, but it may take another year,or never, who knows.
I think people my be missing the point about prayer. IMO, a person can pray or not pray, it probably won't make a difference in their recover. The point of prayer is to give comfort to the one suffering and to give them hope.
I pray a lot for a lot of people's health issues, including my own.
I hope your T is improving.
