- Cause of Tinnitus
- It seemed to start shortly after operating an impact wrench
Hello all,
My name is Rick and I was recently diagnosed with tinnitus. Over the years I've experienced short bouts of tinnitus that sounds like a constant cicada whine - high pitched enough to be irritating, but not debilitating.
A few weeks ago I was installing a security storm door, using an impact driver to drive the screws. I had to get pretty close to the driver to have enough leverage so the bit wouldn't strip the screw head. A day or two later and the ringing became constant to the point where I couldn't sleep.
I'm a coffee drinker, and I enjoy a good cigar with bourbon from time to time. My doctor told to stop all that nonsense for a month and see if the symptoms subside. I'm 2 weeks in to it and nothing has changed. At this rate, I'll be hammered for father's day weekend.
Appreciate that there is a forum like this, and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and hopefully contributing to the group. I can say with all sincerity that I feel your pain...
Rick
