Hi everyone,

Has anybody read the news that the Kansas City Chiefs broke the loudest stadium record for noise at 137 dB? That's crazy loud!!!

Yes, I heard about it yesterday evening. Not that I'm against team spirit or anything, but I hope no one with tinnitus was at the stadium the other night!!

Wow, that is crazy! I sometimes free lance at a hockey arena and it can get pretty loud especially on sell out nights, well above 100db. I wear ear plugs every time.

How to protect yourself from 137dB? The strongest earplugs I could find give an average of 36 dB reduction (less for lower frequencies) so this is still nowhere close to being enough, even if you couple that with ear muffs (which I did on few occasions lol).

36db sounds too optimistic for earplugs

Why is it other conditions have such public awareness? We don't encourage people to smoke and then ignore those who have lung cancer. Why do we encourage destructive noise levels? I bet more than a few people left that stadium that Sunday with permanent tinnitus.
