Lipoflavonoid for Tinnitus? Helps or Not?

@Tammy - It does not seem like Lipo-Flavonoid Plus would cause a rash but you never know with allergies. I have a big bottle of 500 to "eat". I did use some of them up, but never any rash. I would get somewhat nauseous on a cruise also.

Lol....yeah, been dealing blackjack on this cruise for 3 yrs....should have my "sea legs" by now. Researched the side effects and according to the Mayo Clinic lipoflavonoids and B-complex supplements can cause itching and rash. Guess I'm going to have to deal with this damn ringing...:-(

Sorry about that, your ringing I mean. I like playing blackjack, but not really on cruises, as the odds are worse from what I remember than land based casinos. In other words my luck wasn't good on cruises at the BJ tables. I would love to be on a cruise right now...been on 3 I think. I eat & drink too much though lol.

I took 3 bottles of lipoflavonoids and it didn't seem to do anything for me. also stupid me forgot to save the receipts, so I can't even get my money back!

Don't feel bad Demi, I did the same thing, I think I had like 5 bottles.....

Thought i should chime in. I started taking lipos about ten days ago, recommended by my ent. He said he had about half his patients have positive results and a decent number who had their t go away. ( dont know if it was the lipo) After about ten days I have noticed increasing instances of fleeting t. From my onset I had very loud T and over time, it went down a bit, while this was happening I had a lot of fleeting t , over 20 a day and as my t died down , my fleeting t lessened to almost nothing. The last few weeks I remember only a handful of instances. Since i started the liposflavinoids, i have had an increase in fleeting T, and my t is changing again. I have more days where either dont hear the high pitched t, and it is a much less intrusive and annoying. I am habituating but that is not whats going on, my t is changing so I will continue to take them and see what happens.

Cull, so happy that they are working for you. I hope your good days continue!!!!

Cull, I edited this to tell you just a few hours ago I talked to an acquaintance of mine and T was brought up, we did not know each other have T

We talked for awhile about T, and he said he started taking L about two months after getting T, this was a few tears back, and now he said it is barley noticeable and still takes it.

Good Luck My Friend...

They might as well make a super pill with every vitamin and mineral, throw in some magnesium, ginkgo, green tea, picamilon, DHEA, L-theanine, St Johns Wart, Vinpocetine and every other supplement that supposedly cures T. Then add in a copy of Thomas Coleman's Tinnitus Miracle to read while you down them all. :)

They should call the vitamin "Erik the Great!"

I took Lipo for a while; it just put my wallet on a diet.

I think it may have a lot to do with the cause of your T; what doesn't work for one may help another.

Are they still working for you?

Hey matt. Last time I took one was when I wrote this. I wanted to see ifit was inmy head or itactually was doing something. Since I stopped I have not had any fleeting
t. Which I don't know if it has anything to do with the lipos. I'll start taking them again and I'll update in 2weeks or so

Oh ok. I hope they work for you. Right now I am talking bioflavonoids and a B-50 complex... I figured Lipoflavonoinds are essentially just B-vitamins and lemon bioflavonoids with some vitamin C... so I ordered some at Swansonvitamins.com and it's substantially cheaper that way. If you find that they work for you, but don't like paying the price, I would look on there (Nature's Life Bioflavonoids, Swanson 50-complex and vitamin C) are what I am taking (among some other stuff). So far, no improvement for me, but I've only been doing it for 5 days.

I think to be fair on the supplement you have to give it 3 months. My reason is i know our bodies are completeely remodelled every 7 years and i believe there is other stages at 3 and 6 months but dont ask me what they are please lol.

Update. I no longer believe the lipoflavs had any effect on my t. Seems to have been a place effect. I still take them but I think my previous post had more to do with me ha bituating then the lipo

My step father swears by the Lipoflavs and something called fluoracal for his--I tried the Lipoflavs--did nothing for me. Very expensive too. Maybe somethings will work for one but not another. I'm sure my stepdad got his T from shooting--he's an avid re-enactor --western and civil war. My mom says he'll never habituate because he keeps shooting. I didn't have any noise injury--I just woke up with it one morning--age related HF hearing loss.

Cullen--what is 'fleeting t'?

Thanks.

My ENT gave me some lipoflavonoids when he diagnosed me with T. He said that they work for about 1/4 of his patients... whether that is a placebo affect or not, doesn't really matter. So long as some people perceive their T as being better whether due to a placebo or a real affect, then so be it.

I feel for you Kathi. I got tinnitus for no apparent reason that I know of. I don't have any hearing loss according to audiograms... although I would be willing to admit perhaps I do in frequencies not typically tested by an audiogram.

Fleeting T. Well does your T ever get really loud for like 15 seconds sometimes longer, and it seems like your hearing is dulled for a bit. Scary at first but many people get it i guess.

That's what fleeting T is? I don't mean to steer the thread away from the topic, but are doctors/researchers even aware of all these anecdotal similarities in T symptoms and experiences? I'm guessing they are, but sometimes I wonder. My top-rated audiologist didn't seem all that on top of it.

Do you mind if I ask how you got yours, or how you think you got yours?

Hey LB yea fleeting seems to be common among us and also to a lesser extent among people without t. I believe it has to do with fluids in the inner ear from what I read awhile back. I believe my t started from an ear infection and possibly worsened by qtips accidently hitting my eardrum. Not 100 percent sure. It took many doctors to find one who was good with t. Recomended by my unlce who also suffers and he was very informed and caring.

Saw this post, had to add. I tried Lipoflavanoids and it bothered my stomach after 2 weeks. Stopped it, stomach ache went away. Tried again for a week, same issue with stomach. It mad absolutely no improvement on my tinnitus

Anybody try this for their tinnitus. Seems like it's helping me, taking double dosage for 5 days. Pharmicist at Wal-Mart says they sell a lot of it, did not know the success rate on it.

So what is the general opinion on the effectiveness of lipoflavonoids? Do they work? How long does it take before results happen? Anyone besides me taking them? Medical advice on taking them? My ENT kinda just sent me home with them and said "hope this works".

I have seen some evidence that it could have some protective properties for ears as far as tinnitus I doubt it. One study for a tinnitus drug showed 30 percent plus getting much better with a placebo and over 60 percent getting some improvement. I still take them for precautionary reasons but I do think your t will improve over the next few months with or without it.

You can certainly try it... but I don't think it will make any significant difference.

There is possibly some evidence of intramuscular injections of vitamin B12 reducing the severity of tinnitus. You will need to do your own research on this (if you want to pursue the idea), however.

There is some evidence of Zinc being helpful in people with age related hearing loss - and tinnitus.

Flavonoids didn't seem to help me in the beginning when I got t, but now that my t is much lower after about an year
It seems to help when I take it when I have a spike , I take " citrus bioflavonoids" 650 mg, thrice a day. Brand " natural
Factors".

I was (and still secretly am) interested in trying lipoflavinoids -- I asked my neurologist about it and he said he thinks it's a waste of time/money (placebo effect). Just remember everything you read on their site you have to taken with a grain of salt because of the bias! So glad this post exists.

For the record though, I have heard mixed reviews from people I know that currently take it.

In the very beginning when I got t , I took Flavanoid, it did not seem like it was helping but in the long run I believe it did help. Now after a year I had a spike after a very long flight and started taking flavonoid It helped greatly.
