Listen or Not to Listen to Tinnitus?

I don't know much about sound therapy, but some like nature sounds and others like soft relaxing music. I do like to do meditation/mindfulness, breathing exercise and I found enjoyable interaction with family helps.
It's really good that your MRI came up negative. I think the best advice for post concussion is the NFL - football. I read about three players who received tinnitus after a concussion. With all of them, their tinnitus resolved before a year mark. I understand that you had tinnitus before your concussion, but it's possible that the added tinnitus in your left ear may settle down. The NFL has their players get rest and then later to start gentle exercise standing up like moving arms around. Wishing you the best.

I will never know if concussion or the stress that followed afterwards (caused by other symptoms, like numbness in body, continuous bad migraines, faininting sensations) triggered the tinnitus. All these came after long time of bad habits regarding sleep schedule and stressful experiences. So, as Julian Cowan Hill said, this period was probably last straw of negative things pilled up on nervous system. Maybe I had better chance if I could ignore it at first instead of becoming obsessed and not reading about it as its incurable and started panick mode, but I cannot unread what I've already read. Sometimes life punishes us too hard before we realise the mistakes we do.

@Gabri - the most important thing with regard to Tinnitus management, is
to be intuitive about what works for you...

Everybody can give you an idea about what works for them, but eventually, through trial and error, perhaps, you will find some good coping methods that work really well for you, I am sure. xx

Have you tried using sound enrichment? it doesn't have to drown out T, it just gives you something else to listen to besides T
yes, I tried sound enrichment. I put my fan or white noise below the level of T.

My real problem is I am a very light sleeper if I wake in midnight I hear T as loudest not sure why even when I have white noise. I feel T is very loud in middle of sleep as if its screaming. I try to close my eyes tight and it bothers me to an extent that I start having speed heartbeat and fear and turns into an annoyance spiraling to tears endless negative thoughts.

Daytime I deviate, distract and get on with life. Nights are the ones which I struggle with Tinnitus.

All your photos are so beautiful and it really is good therapy. I would post some of my pictures, but I don't know how to.

@Greg Sacramento - I'm a bit of a Bozo on this site, but if you press 'Upload a File' it will take you to your Photo Library.
Select however many you wish to put up, then press on the frame with your selections in it.
Then select 'full size,' and they will all go up there for you. Then upload a file.

Basic principles of TRT implies sound therapy and partial masking with white noise. However, I saw some recommendatations for habituation to actually listen and meditate on the tinnitus sound to make it a friend rather than enemy. I am not sure which one to apply, I tried partial masking with no kind of success so far and I am concerned that I might make it worse if I try meditation on the actual sound.

What is your opinion on this, do you do anything to speed habituation process?

Hi Anusha
I would try Melatonin - at just 2mg.
Also, if you've learnt any meditation techniques, they should help you.

@threefirefour - I'd love to know what your good advice would be.
In fact, do you ever offer any advice at all...?
When I feel like it.

There is a small minority of TT members, usually younger people, who are opposed to any and all therapies, such as TRT and CBT, and other methods of dealing with tinnitus distress. They are only interested in a scientific cure, and continually belittle TRT and CBT, neither of which I doubt they've ever tried. They really have little to offer, other than sarcasm and negativity. But you already know this, lol.

Yes - I am very well aware Luman.
It interests me because we all know that there is currently no cure. Currently no effective treatment. What we are left with is management.
If a sincere member has found very good coping techniques, and wishes to help those that are deeply troubled, would sharing them not be a commendable thing.
I will continue asking the cynics, in my extremely polite fashion, of course, what they have to offer in the way of assistance, while fully expecting toothaches, sciatica, influenza, and other medical emergencies to terminate the discourse.
This site is not about psychological 'fun and games.'
People suffer very seriously, as do we all.
It is our duty to help each other, if at all possible.
I think our own degree of humanity comes into the equation.
Thanks for your support Luman.
Much appreciated.

"SUGAR ?" - no thanks.
I never use the stuff.
I like to experience the reality of what my cup of coffee naturally tastes like.
I don't believe in sugar coating anything, do you?
No wonder you've got tooth ache - that'll be all that sugar.
But to get back to considerations of Tinnitus for a moment, that is, if your excruciating tooth ache will actually permit a degree of concentration of course, I do sincerely hope that whatever your own coping methodology is, that it is working well for you, and that you are making positive progress.
Perhaps, one day, teeth permitting of course, you will be kind enough to share your findings and benefit us all.
Perhaps that will need to be put on hold until you've had that jolly old tooth fixed.
I know that tooth ache can make some, otherwise very considerate people extremely irascible.
Have a lovely day old buddy,

Boi das salt

Just had another thought - I am assuming of course that the granules depicted above are sugar.
But should they be salt, then you may need to watch that.
Bad for the blood pressure.
Have you had yours checked lately?
High blood pressure can make some really rather pleasant people quite ratty.
