Cause of Tinnitus
Accidently hit on ear
Hey I got hit accidentally on my left ear, the ringing started straight away and I now have hearing loss. This happened two days ago.

There had been no blood or discharge and it's the lower frequency sounds I'm struggling to hear.

I have already got mild hearing loss which I've had since I was a child and I have an appointment with ENT on Tuesday so will mention it then.

Does this sound like a perforated ear drum? I also get buzzing in my ear.

If it is perforated will me hearing gradually get better or will it only get better once the hole is healed?

Thank you

If your hearing does recover your tinnitus should usually go away within a few weeks to a month afterward.

However because you already had mild hearing loss some of it might unfortunately stick around even once recovered but let's hope for the best.

I'm seeing ENT on Tuesday anyway so no haven't been to the doctor

S/he'll be able to tell you if your ear drum is perforated. Maybe a hearing test would be in order too, because you may want to see the split between conductive and sensorineural losses in your hearing, as it may indicate where the problem lies (for example, the ear drum).

Update: went to ENT today large hole in eardrum had hearing test the one behind my ear was fine the o w the tested in ear showed I had lost some of my hearing seeing me again in 8 weeks said will take 6-8 weeks to heal and hopefully will heal on its own. Keep it dry. Is there anything I can do to speed up healing vitamin e is it I have heard?
