Loud Wedding, Big Spike

I have T from April 2016, it started with a very light whispering sound and now it has become a sort of electric buzzing hissing sound. What I can tell you is: everytime I got a spike I panicked more and more, But eventually after less than a month I completely felt fine again, as the spike settled down a bit or I habituated.
So let's hope for the best, my friend!

Read my post on the Ear Muffled. We live on the edge every way hoping it dosent get worse.

Yeah but we're young, you're 27 and I'm 25! I also have moderate hearing loss in my right ear. As Bill said We gotta protect our hearing as much as we can and hanging up until a cure would come!

But i cant understand how i can have more hearing loss if an ambulance passes by me without me wearing earplugs. How the **** is that possible?
IT took me 12 years to damage my hair cells by playing loud music on ipod and being three hours at a loud concert.
How can a fire alarm damage me further? are we that weak now?

YES WE ARE but here's what I noticed.
We have damaged ears and are vulnerable to noise, but most times spikes due to moderate/high short sounds are temporary, our hearing would just need some rest and better protection.
That's why I'm so concerned, my last noise exposure wasn't a loud short noise, it was long!

Also, the hearing loss following noise exposure should be what people call threshold shift

The only thing you can do now, is to make sure you are never again exposed to loud noises like that.

Most spikes are temporary, but if you continue to push your luck, eventually the spike won't settle back to your baseline. Even this spike might take months before it clears.

It's been a week now from that wedding and nothing seems to change...do you think that 10 hours of noise exposure could have done a permanent damage? Is it too late to take NAC or other medications?

Temporary spikes can last a surprisingly long time:

My longest temporary spike had lasted for over three months. It happened as a result of me accidentally pressing a loud phone to my bad ear, and the person on the other end raising her voice as she greeted me. I moved the phone away from my ear less than a second after I heard that loud noise (I have a good reaction time), but it was too late.

Anything is possible, but you shouldn't assume that it is permanent unless it relentlessly stays at the same loud level for many months...

Is it too late to take NAC or other medications?
Ideally one would want to take them earlier. However, NAC is nonprescription and seems to be harmless (assuming you don't exceed the recommended dosage), so I would begin taking it, if I were you.

You might consider taking prednisone, but it is not as clear whether that is a good idea. Prednisone can have side effects, and it will be less effective how compared to its effectiveness if taken within the first 48 hours...

Well, I'm asking this because when I had the other spikes I could manage to sleep and stay calm by saying: "well, I know how it works! Just gonna wait for the spike to settle down and pay more attention next time".
But those spike were due to shorter exposures to noise (3-4 hours).
This time I think my T won't return to baseline, I guess I stayed too much hours in a loud enviroment! I mean, nowhere in this forum I've read of people who exposed themself to loud music for 10 hours!

I Got T as a result of being exposed to noise that had lasted for a fraction of a second. You can't compare these exposures, as the level of noise was different in each one. There were others there with you, and they did not even notice the music.

I am always advocating that people protect their ears. However, once one is hurt, there is always a chance that the damage is not permanent...

Woah! How loud was that sound? Was it a gunshot?

Well, tbh I can't say for sure how loud the music was, my ears didn't hurt and I didn't feel like I needed to walk away from the noise, but sure the music was loud and probably I couldn't hear what other people said to me from an average distance.

Another thing I notice these days is some kind of fullness in my ears along with a little soreness and also my T is more high pitched and doesn't change with my jaw movement anymore.
What could those signs mean?

A sonic toothbrush had momentarily touched the opening of my ear canal. Don't ask...

Ear fullness is a sign that some damage was done to the ear. [Since people with existing T get ear fullness after noises that clearly are not loud enough to damage the ears, it is difficult to put a finger at what is it exactly that had been damaged (or whether the damage is permanent). But something is certainly being damaged.] When I had my initial acoustic trauma, my first symptom was ear fullness. It had lasted for many months. T got turned on 11 days later.

Normally, for most people ear fullness gets resolved.

In the end I took 16 mg of medrol, wich is way more strong than prednisone.
I'm familiar with side effects and I know it could make me feel like a s**t but I wanted to try. Also today I'm starting taking 1800 mg of NAC/die and vitamin D as well.

I'm starting taking 1800 mg of NAC/die

Is it pure 1800 mg of NAC? I had been taking two 1000 mg NAC pills a day for many months. Then I saw a link on this site saying that NAC could cause nerve damage or some other damage if one takes more than 1000 mg per day. My experience seems to imply that it can't be THAT dangerous to exceed the 1000 mg per day suggested dosage, but at the same time you might not want to take those large doses for more than a month.

I know at least one person whose T got significantly quieter for something like 12 hours after he took benzos. As long as you don't get addicted, it ought to be fine. Remember that with addictive drugs like benzos, initially they do wonders, but then 0ne needs to keep increasing the dosage to achieve the same effect...

Well, I took benzos and ssris for long periods of time treating my OCD. I never developed an addiction but taking it scares me as it's like admitting my T is unbearable and that makes me panic even more

Yes, as I wrote in my posts I got a huge spike due to the long exposure (10hrs) to loud music one week ago, and now I am kinda freaked out cause I never stayed in a noisy enviroment for so long

10 HOURS? How loud is the music?

Yeah dude I was working at a wedding party and couldn't wear earplugs (needed to hear the costumers speaking). Music was around 90 db so I guess I'm kinda f***ed up this time!

Please dont do that again. Take it from me who kept touching the T and now made it so much worse.

Sure man, I already gave up that job! Too muc loud noises! Let's just hope our spikes will subside soon! By the way, how loud is your T during this spike?

It is loud i couldn't work yesterday.

I'm sure anxiety is gonna make you perceive it louder, I mean, sometimes when I'm not battling a spike I completely forget about it but when I'm concerned about a spike nothing but my T seems to exist and it seems to overwhelm everything

I love how everyone says its anxiety, trust me man it went up and it when it goes up its LOUD. I was anxious when i had mild t and guess what it wasn't that bad.

Dude I'm not saying your T didn't spike, I'm saying there's basic anxiety and there's acute anxiety. From what I've read both You and I are facing acute anxiety at the moment, caused by spikes in our T, due to loud noises expsoure.
But when anxiety kicks in everything changes in a bad way, our T goes over the roof and this create even more anxiety, whch boosts the T even more.
So basically YES we're facing a spike, our T has somehow increased and we're scared like hell, but anxiety also plays a huge role in our perception of T.

. I wouldnt mind dying at age 57. I really wouldnt just so i can be 20-30 years T/H free.
