Hi All,

Anyone with existing tinnitus experience a low hum when sick with a cold or sinus infection? My left ear normally has a low hum tone, very subtle though. When I get a cold it seems to increase and I feel a low hum in that ear louder but kind of in my head as well. Hoping it won't be a permanent issue, and since I am still sick I am just going to wait it out.

When your sinuses get blocked it makes your overall hearing worse, which means that all internal noises are amplified.

My tinnitus always goes bonkers in every direction when I'm really sick. Not a big deal.

Would something like NAC work in this instance since supposedly breaks up mucus?

I've had a very loud humming sound in my head, off and on, for over 20 years. Has nothing to do with colds as I rarely get sick. (See my other posts about this in detail).

Hopefully, your hum will go back to normal when your cold is over. Please keep us posted.
