I have had Tinnitus for about 4 weeks now... so a 'newbie'...

No wax in ear and seen an ENT specialist who suggested Tinnitus and also suggested a scan for an acoustic neuroma as there was a loss of very high and low frequency in my left-ear - which she suggested might be causing the tinnitus... (still waiting for that scan).

My first 'noise' was like an engine running in my head.... 24/7 for a week.... which then subsided - during that first week I had an occasional break-up of sound when someone was speaking to me.. that happened 5-6 times.

The hum then changed to be a high-pitched sound which has been present for most of the time since then.... although on a couple of occasions has 'gone' .... for several minutes and even hours.... (back again as I write...)

A couple of questions...

I hadn't noticed this before... but when I cup my hand over my left-ear I can hear a 'hum' - a bit like an underground train coming from some distance away... but this isn't present in my right ear. Anyone else have that? and what might that suggest? Still tinitus?

Any suggestions as to diet or health foods to take or avoid - I realise that it may vary from one person to another but it would be good to have something to try out and grasp some hope of....

A low salt diet can help some people.
Were hearing aids mentioned to you for help with hearing loss and tinnitus or a audiology referral ?....lots of love glynis
