I am new to this site and wondered if anyone else has gone through mastoid surgery.
I have been dealing with tinnitus for three months now. It began after I had strep throat and double ear infections. I was treated by an ENT with steroids and antibiotics, along with procedures to clean and suction the fluids from my ears. Despite this, I am now left with hearing loss in both ears, with my right ear being the worst, at about 50 percent loss. On top of all this, I have tinnitus, which is driving me insane.
A CT scan showed fluid in my inner ear, and now I am scheduled for mastoid surgery this May.
My question is: has anyone experienced success with reduced tinnitus following this surgery?
My ENT believes the surgery can improve my hearing, which in turn could reduce the tinnitus. I would appreciate any thoughts or experiences you might have.
